You can run a 24/7 country music radio channel on YouTube by clearing the rights to every recording and composition, enabling live streaming on your channel, and sending a continuous playlist to YouTube through an encoder or cloud service. The rights check comes first: owning a song or having a general radio license does not by itself prove that you can broadcast that recording on YouTube worldwide.
1. Clear the music rights before building the stream
Make a track inventory before you schedule a broadcast. For every song, record who controls the sound recording, who controls the underlying composition, what kind of online live use is permitted, and which territories the permission covers. A label may control a recording’s master-use rights, while a performing-rights organisation may administer public-performance rights in the composition. Permission for one layer should not be treated as clearance for the other.
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the person providing the live content to have the necessary rights for its exploitation on Google services throughout the world. The terms identify artists, record labels, publishers—including public-performance licensing—and other royalty participants. A license limited to a particular country may not cover a worldwide YouTube stream; confirm the actual territories and uses in your agreements, and seek qualified legal advice where their scope is unclear.

- Independent artists’ tracks: get written permission from the relevant rights holders, including confirmation of platform, territory, duration, and any Content ID handling.
- Music you create or commission: verify that your agreements cover all relevant rights and participants, rather than assuming that commissioning the track automatically grants every broadcast right.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A license does not guarantee that a stream will stay uninterrupted: if the channel is not on the relevant Content ID allowlist, YouTube may still interrupt it. For licensed material, ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before launch. Allowlisting helps prevent a match from disrupting the broadcast; it does not itself grant permission to use the music.

YouTube Creator Music is not a shortcut for a live radio channel. YouTube says its licensing does not support live content. Its documented availability for eligible long-form uploaded videos does not change that live-stream exclusion.
2. Enable live streaming on the YouTube channel
- Sign in to the channel that will host the radio stream and complete YouTube’s channel verification if it is not already verified.
- Check YouTube Studio for live-stream restrictions. YouTube requires that the channel have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Enable live streaming and allow time for activation. YouTube for Artists advises completing verification and enabling live streams at least 24 hours before the planned broadcast.
Do not leave activation until the day you intend to promote the station. If live access is unavailable, resolve the channel’s verification or restriction issue before continuing.

3. Build a continuous audio-and-visual program
Choose the playout source
Prepare a continuous, ordered playlist or another playout system that can feed the encoder without needing someone to start each track manually. Decide how tracks will be rotated, whether the sequence repeats, and what should play if a file is missing. Test the actual playlist from beginning to end, including the transition at its loop point.
Prepare the on-screen presentation
Create a stable visual loop or original channel artwork and a clear station identity. Use only artwork, animations, and other visuals you have permission to use. A radio-style program can use a static or looping visual; it does not need to imitate a live camera broadcast.

Choose an encoder and keep the stream key private
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming, which gives a radio-style feed more control over its outgoing program than a basic webcam or mobile broadcast. In YouTube Studio’s live control workflow, create or schedule the broadcast and copy the stream details shown for that broadcast into the encoder. Use the secure RTMPS ingestion option if the encoder offers it and follow the current settings shown in Studio and the encoder’s documentation.
Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, put it in a public screenshot, or share it with people who do not operate the channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.

Set output values from the actual workflow, not a guessed universal preset
There is no single bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or computer specification established for every 24/7 radio stream in YouTube’s setup guidance cited here. Choose a format your encoder and connection can sustain, check YouTube’s current live-stream recommendations and the encoder’s instructions, and confirm the ingest health in Studio during a test. Do not assume that a higher resolution improves an audio-led station if the source visuals do not benefit from it.

4. Test the complete chain before going public
- Use a private or unlisted test broadcast with the real playlist, artwork, encoder, stream key, and internet connection.
- Listen for silence, clipping, missing tracks, abrupt level changes, and gaps at playlist transitions. Watch the video output for a frozen frame, unintended black screen, or visual content you do not have rights to use.
- Check YouTube Studio for stream health and any copyright warning or other notification. Confirm with rights holders that allowlisting is in place for licensed third-party material.
- Leave the test running long enough to observe playlist looping and ordinary operator handoffs. Decide who will monitor it and what they should do if the encoder or connection stops.
- Only after the test works and the rights checks are complete, schedule or start the public stream and promote its YouTube watch page.
A continuous channel needs a recovery plan as well as a playlist. For a self-operated encoder, plan how an operator will notice a power, computer, software, or internet failure and restart the feed. A backup connection or power plan may help where practical, but neither YouTube’s setup guidance nor a successful test guarantees uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

5. Troubleshoot common interruptions
- You cannot start a live stream: check that channel verification is complete, live streaming is enabled, and the channel has no live restriction from the preceding 90 days. If access was just enabled, allow the advised activation time before the planned broadcast.
- The encoder will not connect: compare its stream key and ingest details with the current broadcast details in YouTube Studio. Check that the encoder is using the selected ingest protocol and that the connection is available.
- The picture or sound is missing: inspect the encoder’s selected audio and video sources, then run the playlist and encoder together in another test. Confirm the output format is supported by the current Studio and encoder settings.
- The playlist stops or repeats incorrectly: check the playout queue, file availability, loop setting, and transition at the end of the sequence. Keep a known-good replacement playlist ready if the scheduled feed depends on a missing file.
- YouTube warns, replaces, interrupts, or terminates the stream: check Studio notifications and identify the matched content. Pause or remove the affected track while you verify the rights. If it is licensed, contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting; having a license alone may not prevent an interruption. YouTube may interrupt or terminate streams for third-party matches and may terminate a stream when there is a copyright or Community Guidelines strike.
- The broadcast stops after a local failure: check whether the computer, encoder software, power, or internet connection stopped, then restore the feed and confirm the program is playing in Studio. For a 24/7 schedule, assign a monitoring and restart process rather than assuming the encoder will recover by itself.

A working test confirms that your particular playlist and stream setup can reach YouTube at that time; it does not establish a typical uptime, guarantee future availability, or predict a new station’s audience or revenue. YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025, but that platform-wide figure is not a measure or forecast for country-music radio channels.
Keep copies of your track inventory, written permissions, territory terms, and allowlisting confirmations with the people responsible for the channel. Recheck them when you add music or change the stream’s distribution, and maintain a separate operational plan for monitoring and recovery.
