To run a continuous Amrit Vela Gurbani stream on YouTube, choose either a live, authorized Gurdwara feed or authorized prerecorded programming; verify that your channel can livestream; configure an encoder; clear rights for every recording and musical work; and test the full chain privately before launch. A 24/7 schedule also needs a named person or service responsible for noticing interruptions and restoring the feed. YouTube does not guarantee that one live event will stay online indefinitely.
Choose a live Gurdwara feed or a prerecorded loop
Both approaches send an audio or audiovisual signal through an encoder to YouTube. The right choice depends on what you are authorized to broadcast, what equipment and source must remain available, and who will monitor the stream.

For a Gurdwara feed, ask the sound-system operator for an authorized output rather than assuming a microphone pointed at a speaker is suitable. Add video only if it is part of the intended broadcast and you have permission to capture and stream it. For a prerecorded loop, make a list of every recording and musical work and confirm that the channel is permitted to livestream it.

Check YouTube live-stream eligibility before scheduling
YouTube Help currently states that a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility requirements, since platform rules can change. YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streams at least 24 hours before going live; leave that lead time rather than waiting until the planned start.

Clear copyright and broadcast permissions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; unresolved use can lead to temporary interruption or termination. Permission for the physical venue or the video recording is not automatically permission for every musical work in it.
- Confirm that you have permission for the specific audio or video recording and all music included in it.
- If you have a license for third-party content, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an automated disruption.
- If you use copyright-protected music, coordinate with the label or distributor where applicable. YouTube for Artists says: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube for Artists: Going live for music channels.
Configure an encoder for the source you chose
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming; it does not require a particular dedicated hardware encoder. Software on a computer may suit a simple setup, while a hardware encoder can be useful when you need dedicated inputs or a standalone device. YouTube describes encoder streaming for setups involving equipment such as cameras, microphones, and preamps in its encoder guide.

Connect the signal path
- For a Gurdwara broadcast, connect an authorized sound-system output to the encoder’s audio input. If broadcasting video, connect the permitted camera or other video source as well. Check input types and levels before buying an interface or other hardware; the needed equipment depends on the venue’s existing system.
- For prerecorded programming, configure the playback source and playlist in the encoder or playback workflow you have chosen. Confirm that the files play as intended and that the encoder receives both audio and video if both are part of the stream.
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key. Enter the key in the encoder’s stream settings and keep it private: anyone with access may be able to broadcast to your event. Use YouTube’s current instructions for the event and encoder you are using.
Use settings for the selected protocol
Use the current YouTube encoder settings and ingestion protocol guidance for the encoder and protocol you select. YouTube recommends RTMPS in its settings guidance. HLS is also documented for compatible encoders, with its own format and segment requirements. These protocols are not interchangeable: follow the instructions for the one your encoder supports and your YouTube setup uses rather than combining settings from different protocols.
Do not assume a generic bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval is right for every stream. Use the current values YouTube lists for the selected protocol, resolution, and encoder, and confirm that your source and available upload connection can sustain them. Encoder labels and available settings vary by product, so follow that encoder’s documentation as well.

Test privately, then assign continuity responsibility
Before announcing the stream, test the complete source-to-YouTube path as a private stream. Google’s livestreaming checklist recommends a full setup test. Check the actual picture and sound in YouTube, not just whether the encoder reports a connection.
- Start a private test stream in YouTube Studio and connect the chosen source to the encoder.
- Verify that YouTube receives the expected audio and video, with no missing channel, clipped sound, unintended silence, or incorrect framing.
- Check the encoder and YouTube preview for connection or stream warnings. Correct issues and repeat the private test before switching to a public schedule.
- Name an operator responsible for checking the stream, noticing interruptions, and restarting or escalating the issue. Record who can access the encoder and YouTube Studio, and how they will respond outside the usual staffed hours.
For an around-the-clock schedule, plan recovery as an operational responsibility, not as an assumption about YouTube or an encoder. The cited guidance does not prescribe one failover design or promise that a single event will remain live without interruption.
