First, check the module number printed on the back of your GMA-S160 and match it to the number in that watch’s official Casio operation guide. Casio’s GMA-S160 support page lists HTML and PDF guides, but the available listing does not identify the module or show its setting steps. The instructions below therefore cannot be confirmed as GMA-S160-specific until the numbers match.
This matters because the available Casio sources disagree on specifications: Casio’s GMA-S160 product page lists a CR1025 battery and a stopwatch capacity of 59 minutes, 59 seconds, while a detailed guide for module 3523 specifies a CR1616 battery and a different stopwatch range. Do not assume that guide—or its button sequences—applies to your watch unless its caseback says module 3523.
Identify your watch’s module before following button steps
- Read the number on the caseback. Look for the module number printed on the back of the watch.
- Open the GMA-S160 support page. Casio’s support listing provides HTML and PDF operation guides: Casio GMA-S160-1B support.
- Match the guide to the caseback. Use a guide only when its module number matches the number on your watch. The retrieved support listing does not establish which module number belongs to the GMA-S160, so this match is essential.
Casio’s detailed module 3523 guide is available here: module 3523 operation guide (PDF). The procedures below describe that module only; they are not verified instructions for every GMA-S160.
Set the time on module 3523
Use these steps only if the number on your watch’s caseback is 3523. In this guide, C cycles modes, A opens or finishes settings, and B changes a value.

- Use B to change the flashing value. When setting seconds, pressing B resets them to 00; if the displayed seconds are 30–59, the minutes advance by one.
- Press A to finish and return to timekeeping.
Casio specifies accuracy of ±15 seconds per month for module 3523; that figure is not confirmed for the GMA-S160 unless the module matches.
Set an alarm on module 3523
The module 3523 guide supports four alarm schedules: a daily time, a time during a selected month, a selected day of each month, or a single date. Use this procedure only when your watch is confirmed as module 3523.

On module 3523, any button stops the alarm after it sounds, and the beeper lasts 20 seconds. These details are not established for a GMA-S160 with a different module.

Casio’s GMA-S160-1B product listing describes a 1-second stopwatch with elapsed-time measurement and a capacity of 59 minutes, 59 seconds. It does not provide the button sequence in the retrieved listing. See the Casio Europe GMA-S160-1B specifications.

The module 3523 guide describes a different stopwatch: it shows 1/100-second units during the first hour, then one-second units, and measures up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds (24 hours); A resets the stopwatch. These are module 3523 specifications, not confirmed GMA-S160 specifications. Check your caseback and matching guide rather than applying one range or reset button to the other.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not use the module 3523 battery specification for a GMA-S160
Casio’s GMA-S160-1B product page lists a CR1025 battery, while the module 3523 specification lists a CR1616. Because the relevant GMA-S160 guide and module match are not established here, do not choose a replacement battery from the module 3523 document. Confirm the exact watch and consult its matching Casio documentation before replacing the battery.
