Call page.emulateLocale('en-IN') before navigating to the site, then capture the rendered page with page.screenshot(). This sets the page locale in Puppeteer; it does not guarantee that every website will display Indian English or format content identically. Check that your installed Puppeteer version and browser protocol support locale emulation.
Set the locale before loading the page
Puppeteer’s Page API lists emulateLocale(locale), and its changelog records page locale emulation as added in Puppeteer 25.2.0 on June 24, 2026. Check your installed release rather than assuming the method exists in an older version. The example uses en-IN as the Indian English locale identifier.
import puppeteer from 'puppeteer';
const browser = await puppeteer.launch();
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.emulateLocale('en-IN');
await page.goto('https://example.com', { waitUntil: 'networkidle2' });
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
Replace the example URL with the page you need to capture. The code combines the documented locale, navigation, and screenshot APIs; it is not a guarantee that networkidle2 is sufficient for every site. Pages that render content after network activity settles may need an additional wait tailored to their behavior. See the Page API, Puppeteer changelog, and screenshots guide.

Confirm the installed Puppeteer API
The changelog identifies Puppeteer 25.2.0 as the release that introduced page locale emulation. If page.emulateLocale is unavailable, check the version installed in the project and update to a release that provides it. The current Next Page API lists the method, but that alone does not establish support in older installed versions.

Check whether you are using WebDriver BiDi
Puppeteer’s documented WebDriver BiDi support page lists locale emulation as unsupported. It documents BiDi screenshot parameters as clip, encoding, and fullPage; do not assume the locale setting works through that protocol. See the WebDriver BiDi support page.
Choose screenshot options for the result you need
The example sets fullPage: true to capture the full page. By default, fullPage is false, so omitting it captures the viewport. The path option saves the file, and Puppeteer infers the image type from the file extension. For an element-only capture, use ElementHandle.screenshot() instead of a page screenshot.

Locale is not the same as request headers or timezone
Extra HTTP headers are a separate mechanism
Puppeteer also provides page.setExtraHTTPHeaders() for sending additional headers on page requests, but its documentation says header order is not guaranteed. It does not establish that setting an Accept-Language header is equivalent to browser locale emulation or that it will localize a particular site. Use the mechanism that matches the behavior you need, and verify the rendered output. See Page.setExtraHTTPHeaders().

Configure Indian time separately if needed
Locale and timezone are distinct page settings. Puppeteer also lists page.emulateTimezone(timezoneId); consider it separately if the screenshot needs Indian local time as well as locale-sensitive language or formatting. The API reference does not establish a required timezone identifier for this task. See Page.emulateTimezone().
Troubleshoot unexpected screenshots
emulateLocaleis missing: Check the installed Puppeteer release. Page locale emulation is recorded as introduced in version 25.2.0.- The setting has no effect under BiDi: The documented BiDi support page lists locale emulation as unsupported. Check which browser protocol your project uses.
- The screenshot still shows another language or format: Locale emulation does not guarantee site-specific output. Inspect the page after navigation and verify the actual rendered result; a site may have its own language or region settings.
- Content is missing from the capture: The example’s wait condition may not match a site’s rendering behavior. Wait for the relevant content or rendered state before calling
screenshot(). - You need local-time behavior too: Configure timezone independently with
emulateTimezone()and validate the page output.

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. Its cleanup steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses indicate the page verdict and billing status. It also provides an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents.
For a screenshot of the example page:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
