To change which day Windows 11 treats as the start of the week, open Settings > Time & language > Language & region, then choose the day under Regional format > Change formats > First day of week. This is a Windows regional-format preference; apps such as Outlook may have a separate calendar setting.
Change the first day of the week in Windows 11
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Time & language > Language & region.
- Expand Regional format.
- Select Change formats.
- Open First day of week and select the day you want.
This navigation and control name are reported by iTechGuides’ Windows 11 guide. Microsoft’s documentation describes Windows formatting as locale-aware, but does not document this exact sequence. If the labels differ on your Windows build, look for the first-day option in the regional-format controls in Settings. Microsoft Learn: Locale information.
What this setting changes
The first-day choice is part of Windows regional formatting. Windows apps can use locale-aware date and time formatting, so this preference may affect how dates are presented in Windows and compatible apps. It is not necessarily a universal calendar setting that overrides each app’s own preferences.
If Outlook still starts the week on a different day
Check Outlook’s calendar preferences separately. Microsoft documents its own first-day-of-week controls for Outlook on the web and separate controls for new and classic Outlook. The relevant Outlook setting depends on which version you use: change the first day of the week in Outlook and Outlook calendar settings.
