For YouTube Live at 4K/2160p and 60 fps, set OBS to CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and the codec-specific recommended video bitrate: 50,000 Kbps for H.264 or 35,000 Kbps for AV1 or H.265. Plan for roughly 20% upload headroom—about 60 Mbps of stable available upload for the H.264 setting or 42 Mbps for AV1/H.265—plus capacity for audio, any backup stream, and other network use. These are planning figures, not guarantees from an Indian broadband provider.
OBS settings for 4K 60fps YouTube Live
YouTube’s recommended live ingest bitrate for 4K/2160p at 60 fps depends on the codec sent to YouTube. Its current guidance lists 50 Mbps for H.264 and 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265. The values below are video bitrates; audio also uses upload capacity. YouTube lists a maximum frame rate of 60 fps, recommends a 2-second keyframe interval (not over 4 seconds), and recommends RTMPS as the secure streaming protocol. YouTube Live encoder settings.
| OBS setting | Recommended value | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec / encoder | H.264, AV1, or H.265, if available | Choose a codec OBS and your selected hardware or software encoder actually support. Encoder choices and controls vary by computer and OBS version. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate for the live stream. |
| Video bitrate | 50,000 Kbps for H.264; 35,000 Kbps for AV1 or H.265 | These are YouTube’s recommendations for 2160p at 60 fps; match the bitrate to the codec you send. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Frame rate | 60 fps | YouTube’s listed maximum is 60 fps. |
| Protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends its secure streaming protocol. |
Set the values in OBS
OBS menu wording and available fields differ by version and encoder. For example, NVENC controls are specific to OBS’s NVENC implementation; do not assume every machine presents identical options. Use the corresponding streaming-output controls in your installation and confirm the resulting stream in YouTube Studio.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Select the encoder. In OBS, open Settings and go to the streaming output controls. Choose an available encoder and its codec. If the encoder does not offer AV1 or H.265, use an available codec such as H.264 rather than selecting a bitrate for an unsupported codec. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance specifies the different recommendations.
- Set rate control and bitrate. Choose CBR. Enter 50,000 Kbps for H.264, or 35,000 Kbps for AV1/H.265.
- Set keyframes. Enter 2 seconds for the keyframe interval; do not set it above 4 seconds.
- Check output video and protocol. Set the stream to 60 fps and use RTMPS where your OBS setup offers the protocol setting. Confirm that the output is configured for the intended 4K resolution.
- Test the actual scene before going live. Check a scene with motion and audio, then watch YouTube stream health and OBS statistics. A speed test by itself cannot show whether the connection will remain stable for the whole event.
How much upload speed do you need?
YouTube recommends leaving 20% room between the stream bitrate and the upload bandwidth available to it. Applying that guidance to the video bitrate gives these approximate planning targets:
#1 Best Overall
- 4K Ultra HD Video Webcam:See every detail with crystal-clear 4K resolution. Experience incredibly sharp and lifelike video quality that makes you look professional on every call, ensuring you're always seen in the best light.
- Wide 80° Field of View & Full 360° Flexibility:Fit everyone into the frame with the 80° wide-angle lens. Easily adjust your view with 180° tilt and 360° swivel rotation. Mount it securely on your monitor, desk, or tripod for the perfect angle every time.
- True Plug-and-Play Simplicity: No drivers, no fuss. Just connect the webcam to your computer via USB and you're ready to join calls in seconds. It offers seamless compatibility with all major platforms like Zoom, Teams, and Skype.
- Complete Privacy with a Physical Sliding Lens Cover: Worried about privacy? We've got you covered—literally. A built-in sliding lens cover physically blocks the camera when not in use, ensuring your private life stays private.
- Built-in Mic & Automatic Light Correction: Communicate clearly with the built-in noise-reducing microphone. The camera also intelligently adjusts the video brightness to make you look your best, even in poor lighting conditions.
| Codec and video bitrate | Approximate stable available upload target | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 at 50 Mbps | About 60 Mbps | 50 Mbps plus approximately 20% headroom |
| AV1 or H.265 at 35 Mbps | About 42 Mbps | 35 Mbps plus approximately 20% headroom |
These are calculations using YouTube’s headroom recommendation, not quoted speed thresholds or Indian ISP guarantees. They apply the margin to video bitrate; allow more capacity for audio and any configured backup stream. If you use a backup stream, YouTube says to include the primary and backup bitrates in the capacity calculation. Other people or devices sharing the connection can reduce the upload available to OBS. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance notes that download speed can be higher than outbound upload speed and advises testing upload bitrate and using a reliable network.
What “fiber broadband” does—and does not—tell you
The word “fiber” and an advertised download rate do not establish how much upstream bandwidth will be continuously available to a live stream. There is no supported India-wide upload-speed figure or provider-specific guarantee that applies to every Indian plan, location, or time of day. Check the sustained upload available at the place and time you plan to stream, rather than inferring it from download speed or the connection type.

- Run an upload test on the computer that will stream, preferably over a wired local connection if Wi-Fi reliability is in question.
- Repeat the test near the planned broadcast time and account for household or office use.
- Compare the measured, stable upload with the target for your codec, then allow room for audio, other network activity, and a backup stream if configured.
A wired connection can help you test whether the local Wi-Fi link is unreliable, but buying a cable does not increase the upload speed supplied by your ISP.

When your connection cannot sustain 4K60
If OBS or YouTube reports an unstable stream at the recommended bitrate, first confirm the codec and bitrate, test upload capacity again under likely live conditions, and check whether other users or a backup stream are consuming bandwidth. If the available upload remains below the planning target, do not treat a faster advertised download rate as a fix. Consider lowering the stream’s resolution or frame rate and selecting the corresponding YouTube bitrate recommendation for that output, then test again. The 4K60 values in this guide apply only to 4K at 60 fps.
