To monitor a Hindi relaxation stream in OBS, select a monitoring device in Settings → Audio, then set the intended source’s monitoring behavior in Audio Mixer → Edit → Advanced Audio Properties. Listen locally, but verify the stream separately: hearing audio through OBS does not prove that YouTube is receiving it.
Set up OBS audio monitoring for a Hindi relaxation stream
- Choose the monitoring device. In OBS, open Settings → Audio and select the device you will listen through. The Audio Mixer Guide explains that a source’s monitor button plays its audio through the monitoring device configured there: OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
- Set the source’s monitoring behavior. In the Audio Mixer, open Edit → Advanced Audio Properties. Find the relevant source and choose the monitoring behavior that matches your check. For a local listening check, enable monitoring for that source.
- Play the source and check its signal. Confirm that its mixer meter moves and that you can hear it through the selected device. Adjust the source level first, then check your operating-system volume and OBS fader as needed. Volume behavior can vary by device, so test your particular setup.
- Check for duplicate capture. If you use a scene-specific Audio Input Capture or Audio Output Capture source for a device that is also selected globally in Settings → Audio, OBS warns that capturing it both ways can cause echo. Disable the matching global device if you are capturing it as a scene source. See OBS Audio Sources.
- Record and listen back before going live. Make a representative recording and check that the intended content is present and balanced. Include the actual planned music, ambient sound and any Hindi speech; that is a practical way to test with audio similar to the live event, not a Hindi-specific OBS requirement. OBS recommends recording a normal session and listening to the file before going live.
Check the audio level without mistaking the meter for a loudness measurement
OBS describes green as a typical zone for background music and sound effects, yellow for speech, and red as close to clipping. Use the meter as a signal and clipping cue, not as a guarantee of how loud the stream will sound to viewers. Sounds whose meters appear similar can still be perceived at different loudness.
The OBS guide also describes the top meter dot as retaining the loudest reading over 20 seconds. Watch the meter while representative audio plays, and listen to the recording rather than relying on a single meter reading.

For RTMP/RTMPS streams, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio and specifies AAC for 5.1 surround support. Its published advanced audio recommendations are:

These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a Hindi relaxation preset. A typical stereo stream should use the stereo values unless the intended delivery is actually 5.1. Confirm what YouTube receives
Local monitoring answers whether you can hear a source through the configured OBS device; it does not establish that the same source is routed to the stream. Check your OBS output and make a pre-live test with audio and video activity similar to the planned broadcast. Confirm the received audio and monitor YouTube’s stream health during the event. YouTube recommends testing before a live stream and checking stream health while it runs.

Troubleshoot common monitoring problems
