To send iPhone photos, open them in Photos, tap Share, then choose AirDrop for someone nearby, Messages to attach them to a conversation, or Options and iCloud Link to share a URL. Check the sharing options before sending: they can affect photo format and whether details such as location are included.
Choose the right way to share

Send photos from the Photos app

Open Photos. Open one photo or video, or tap Select in the thumbnail view and choose multiple items.

Tap Share.

For a direct transfer, choose AirDrop and select the nearby recipient, or choose Messages and select a conversation. Follow the prompts shown on screen.

To send a URL instead, tap Options, turn on iCloud Link, and share the resulting link through the channel you prefer.

Before completing the share, review the available options for location, format, and photo data.
Apple’s iPhone photo-sharing instructions cover these paths. Button labels and their placement can vary with iOS versions.

Check privacy and image details before sending
A shared photo or video may include associated information such as its date and time, location, device details, or captions. Review the sharing options and adjust location or format settings if you do not want to include particular details.
All Photos Data is a fidelity option: where supported, it shares the original file along with edit history and metadata. Use it when preserving that information matters, and consider the privacy implications before enabling it. Apple’s sharing guide describes the available controls.

An iCloud Link is a URL, not inherently a named-recipient-only invitation. Anyone who has the link can view the shared items while the link remains active. Apple says it expires after 30 days, and the person who created it can stop sharing earlier; availability varies by country or region. See Apple’s iCloud Link guidance.
When a Shared Album is a better fit
For an ongoing group collection rather than a one-time share, consider a Shared Album. Participants can add photos, videos, and comments, while the creator manages participant and access settings. If the album allows access by link, anyone with that link can access it.

Shared Album items are copies. If someone saves items to their own library, those saved downloads remain there even if the album is deleted or sharing ends. These behaviors are described in Apple’s Shared Albums guide.

Message attachment size: The limit depends on the service provider; a large selection may not send the same way in every conversation.

Live Photos: Destinations that do not support Live Photos may receive them as still photos.

Link access: A link is convenient for recipients who can open a URL, but link possession allows access until the link expires or is revoked.
