To save an Outlook email in OneNote, open the message, choose Send to OneNote (or OneNote from the Apps icon), select a notebook and section, then choose Save. The email subject becomes the OneNote page title, and its original date and time are retained.

Microsoft’s instructions describe the Outlook integration as intended for OneNote in the cloud with Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com accounts. For Outlook for Mac, Microsoft says it is not intended for a personal Gmail account.
What happens to the email after you save it
OneNote creates a page from the imported message. Its subject is used as the page title, while the message’s original date and time are retained. You can move or copy the resulting page to another section or notebook after saving.
Can you forward Gmail to OneNote?
Do not rely on forwarding an email to me@onenote.com as the current method. Microsoft Support stated that “The me@onenote feature will be removed in March 2025,” so that forwarding workflow is legacy guidance as of October 2026. Use Outlook’s Send to OneNote integration for the supported workflow described above; the available Outlook integration is intended for cloud OneNote with Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com accounts.

Sending a OneNote page by email is a different action
Email Page sends a OneNote page outward by email; it does not import an email into OneNote. Microsoft documents that command as depending on classic Outlook. To save a message in OneNote, use Outlook’s Send to OneNote integration instead.
