If you shared your Battle.net password, verification code, or other account details with a WoW gold seller, treat them as exposed: use a trusted device to change the password, secure your computer, and turn on the Battle.net Authenticator. If you see unauthorized activity or cannot sign in, submit a recovery ticket through Blizzard Support’s Account Hacked flow. Contacting or buying from a seller does not by itself prove your account was accessed, but Blizzard warns that gold sellers and leveling services often steal customers’ Battle.net accounts and credit cards.
What to do first if you shared account details
- Use a trusted device to change your Battle.net password. If you gave the seller your password, email address, verification code, or another secret, consider that information exposed. Choose a strong password you have not used elsewhere.
- Change any reused passwords. If the Battle.net password was also used for your email or another service, change it on those accounts too. Blizzard advises using a different password for each account because reused Battle.net credentials can put other accounts at risk. See Blizzard’s account security guidance.
- Secure the computer before relying on the new login. Blizzard advises securing the computer when an account may have been hacked, so it does not compromise the account again after access is restored. Scan for malware, keyloggers, and viruses, and keep the operating system and security software current. Do not install a “recovery” tool or addon offered by the seller.
Strengthen Battle.net sign-in security
Add or check the Battle.net Authenticator. Blizzard describes it as its best account-protection feature and recommends adding one when reviewing an account-hack case; its account-security guidance says two-step verification makes unauthorized access extremely difficult. Follow Blizzard’s current setup instructions from your Battle.net account rather than relying on a link or app supplied by a seller.
When to use Blizzard’s account recovery process
Submit a recovery ticket through Blizzard Support’s Account Hacked flow if you cannot log in, discover that account details have changed, or notice activity or transactions you did not make. Blizzard says Customer Support reviews the case and restores access. A password change alone is not a substitute for reporting a suspected compromise, and Support’s review—not an assumption—determines what can be restored.

Blizzard warns that gold sellers may steal customers’ credit-card details as well as Battle.net accounts. If you gave a seller payment information or believe it was exposed, contact your bank, card issuer, or payment provider through its official channel and review recent transactions. Also secure the email account tied to Battle.net, especially if you reused its password or the seller learned its login details.

Check missing gold before concluding you were hacked
Gold missing from all of your characters can be a sign of compromise, according to Blizzard’s missing-gold guidance. A discrepancy on one character can also have ordinary explanations. Check whether the gold was spent at the Auction House or a vendor, sent by mail, deposited in a guild bank, or used to buy a WoW Token. An addon display issue can also make an amount appear wrong.

Blizzard advises players not to buy gold from non-Blizzard sources or solicit leveling services. For an in-game currency option, Blizzard points players to the WoW Token. It is an in-game alternative, not a physical product recommendation.
