Use Puppeteer to load the product page, wait until the intended price is visible, then capture either the whole page or the price element. Magento does not provide one universal price selector: inspect the specific storefront, and confirm that a configurable, bundle, or grouped product is showing the price state you want to document.
Choose what the screenshot needs to prove
A page screenshot preserves the price alongside the product name, currency, and surrounding details. An element screenshot focuses on the price itself and is useful when you need a compact image. For evidence or comparisons, keep enough context to make the amount understandable.
| Capture method | Use it when | Important behavior |
|---|---|---|
page.screenshot() |
You need the product and price in storefront context. | fullPage: true includes content beyond the viewport; path saves the image and type selects its format. Puppeteer screenshots guide and ScreenshotOptions API document these options. |
ElementHandle.screenshot() |
You need a focused image of the rendered price node. | Puppeteer scrolls the element into view as needed. The handle must still refer to an attached element when captured. ElementHandle.screenshot() API. |
Page screenshot with clip |
You need a bounded region that includes nearby context. | Define the capture rectangle using screenshot options; inspect the result to ensure it includes the relevant currency and option labels. ScreenshotOptions API. |
Identify the price state before capturing
First inspect the actual product page and its rendered DOM. Find a selector that identifies the visible price on that site; do not assume a selector copied from another Magento theme will work. The selector below is deliberately a replacement marker, not a Magento-wide selector.

Product type matters. Adobe Commerce Catalog Service documentation distinguishes simple product prices from price ranges for complex products. A configurable product’s displayed amount may also change when a shopper selects options. Capture only after the storefront shows the state you intend to record. See Adobe’s products query and product schema documentation for relevant price and product distinctions. A browser screenshot does not require Catalog Service or GraphQL; those documents help explain why the rendered value may be a range or option-dependent.

Run Puppeteer and save the price screenshot
Install Puppeteer in your project if needed, then save this as an ES module such as capture-price.js. Replace the URL and selector with values inspected from the target storefront.
import puppeteer from 'puppeteer';
const productUrl = 'https://store.example/product-page';
const priceSelector = '[REPLACE_WITH_PRICE_SELECTOR]';
const browser = await puppeteer.launch();
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto(productUrl, { waitUntil: 'networkidle2' });
const price = await page.waitForSelector(priceSelector, {
visible: true,
timeout: 15000,
});
if (!price) {
throw new Error(`Price element not found: ${priceSelector}`);
}
await price.screenshot({ path: 'product-price.png' });
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
Puppeteer’s screenshots guide demonstrates navigation with page.goto() using waitUntil: 'networkidle2', followed by a screenshot. It is a starting point, not a guarantee that every Magento storefront has finished rendering: client-side updates, option selection, or persistent network activity may require a more specific wait. Check the installed Puppeteer version against the current screenshot documentation; the documentation reviewed for this article identifies Puppeteer 25.12.0.

Handle changing options and re-rendered elements
If the displayed price depends on a selected size, color, or other option, automate the required selection before waiting for the final price. The option controls and selectors are storefront-specific, so inspect the target page and verify that the visible price changes to the intended state. If the page re-renders after you locate the price, its element handle may be detached; wait for the updated state and query the selector again immediately before capturing.

For a useful record, note the target URL, capture date and time, selected variant or options, and relevant storefront context such as region or currency. The screenshot establishes what that browser rendered at capture time; by itself it does not establish that the amount applies to every shopper or configuration.

Troubleshooting
- Timeout waiting for the price: Confirm the URL loads, inspect the selector in the rendered DOM, and check whether the price appears only after an option is selected. Increase the timeout only if the page legitimately takes longer; do not treat a longer wait as proof that the correct price state loaded.
- Selector returns no element: Replace the marker with a selector verified on the target storefront. Themes and product types can use different markup.
- Element detached during screenshot: The page likely replaced the node during a render. Wait for the updated price state, reacquire the element handle, and capture that fresh handle.
- Image shows the wrong amount or a range: Check the product type and selected options, then compare the visible storefront state with the intended evidence. Complex products may display ranges rather than one simple-product value.
- Capture is blank or incomplete: Verify that navigation succeeded and the price is visible before capture. A navigation lifecycle event alone may not mean the storefront’s own price-rendering work is complete.
- Price image lacks context: Capture the page or use a larger clip that includes product identity, currency, and selected options; an isolated number may be ambiguous.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Magento have a standard CSS selector for every product price?
No. Themes and product types can render prices differently, so inspect the target page’s DOM and choose a selector for its visible price.
Can Puppeteer screenshot a price after selecting a product option?
Yes. Automate the required option selection first, then wait for the updated visible price and capture it.
