To preserve what an Indian shopping site showed, capture the product listing and, if it does not show every charge, the final order summary before payment. Keep the product and seller context, delivery information, separate charge lines, and payable total visible where possible. A screenshot records the on-screen display; it is not a GST tax invoice.
What to capture
A listing price and the amount payable can appear on different screens. Start with the product page, then capture the order summary if delivery, convenience, marketplace, tax, or other charges are only shown in the cart. Stop at the final pre-payment summary; you do not need to place the order to document the displayed total.
- Product listing: Include the product name, listing or seller context, displayed price, delivery estimate or availability, and any visible GST-inclusive wording or tax-invoice badge.
- Order summary: Include the product line, delivery or shipping charge, other separate fees, discounts, tax information if shown, and final payable total.
- Conditions: Note the capture date and time and the relevant delivery location or account conditions separately. Charges and availability may depend on the item, seller, address, account, and time.
If everything does not fit legibly in one frame, take overlapping screenshots or use a full-page capture. Identify which screen each image represents. Keep original files; redact personal details only on a copy intended for sharing, and do not crop or edit away a fee or other context in a way that changes the meaning.

How to capture the listing and order summary
- Open the exact product listing and wait until its price, seller, and delivery details have loaded. Frame enough of the page to identify the product and listing.
- If the page shows that the price includes GST, or displays a tax-invoice badge, include that wording in the capture. Do not infer tax treatment from the price alone.
- If the site needs a delivery location to show availability or charges, select the relevant location. For a screenshot that will be shared, avoid including a full street address, phone number, email, order number, or account identifier. Even a city or PIN code may identify you, so retain only what is needed.
- Use your device’s built-in screenshot function for the visible screen. A normal screenshot captures what is currently visible; it is not automatically a full-page or stitched scrolling capture.
- If the listing does not show all charges and the total together, add the item to the cart only as far as needed to view the order summary. Capture the summary and stop before payment.
- Check that the captured text is legible and all relevant lines are present. Preserve the original image and make a separate redacted copy if you need to publish or send it.

How to interpret the price and fee lines

| GST-inclusive wording or tax display | Records what the page says. A price alone does not establish whether tax is included or how it is treated. |
| Delivery or shipping line | Records a delivery-related charge shown for the selected order and delivery context. |
| Other separate fee | May be a platform, convenience, or other charge; do not relabel it as delivery unless the site does so. |
| Final payable total | Records the total shown in the order summary before payment, subject to the selected item, seller, location, account, and time. |
The Central Consumer Protection Authority’s 2025 action against Digital Age Retail Pvt. Ltd. (FirstCry), as reported by the Press Information Bureau, is a specific enforcement example. The release says Rule 7(1)(e) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 requires the total price inclusive of all charges and taxes to be displayed upfront; it also describes directions concerning tax-inclusive original and discounted prices and clear disclosure of additional charges such as shipping or convenience fees. The release reported a ₹2,00,000 penalty and gave a case-specific example of an advertised 27% discount that was effectively 18.2% after GST. These are details of that reported case, not proof that every discrepancy is unlawful; the facts and applicable law matter. Read the PIB account of the CCPA action.
A marketplace-fee example is not a delivery fee
Amazon India describes a ₹5 marketplace fee per order, inclusive of applicable taxes, appearing as a separate line on the order-summary page before payment, with stated exceptions. Amazon’s amount, exceptions, and policy can change; check its current page before relying on the figure. It is a marketplace-fee example, not a general delivery charge or a fee that should be assumed to apply on other sites. Check Amazon India’s marketplace-fee information.

A screenshot is not a GST invoice
A screenshot can document the price and charges displayed to a shopper, but it does not replace the seller’s issued tax invoice. CBIC invoice rules list formal particulars including supplier name, address and GSTIN, a consecutive invoice number, issue date, place of supply, and delivery address if different. The CGST Act also requires tax amount to be indicated in tax invoices and similar documents. If you need invoice evidence or documentation for business input-tax-credit purposes, request or download the invoice separately from the seller. CBIC CGST Rules and CGST Act.
Amazon Business says a verified GSTIN and eligible product affect GST-related price displays, and describes GST-invoice filters or badges and invoice access for eligible purchases. This is specific to Amazon Business and qualifying purchases, not a universal condition for consumer shopping. Troubleshooting missing or unclear charges
- Delivery charge is absent: The site may need a delivery location or may show the charge only in the cart. Select the relevant location and inspect the pre-payment order summary.
- Listing and total differ: Capture both screens and preserve the separate fee and discount lines. Do not assume the difference is tax or delivery without a displayed explanation.
- Tax treatment is unclear: Capture any GST wording or invoice badge, but do not infer inclusion from the amount. Obtain the issued invoice when tax documentation is required.
- Text or total is cut off: Take overlapping frames or a full-page capture if available. Retain enough context to identify whether the image is the listing or order summary.
- Personal information is visible: Keep an untouched original privately and redact a copy before sharing. Ensure the redaction does not conceal a price or fee needed to understand the record.
