Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11To capture a product page with both prices visible, open the exact product and sale state you want to record, wait for the price area to load, move the product name and current and crossed-out prices into view, clear any overlays, then take a screenshot and inspect the saved image. A screenshot records what the page actually rendered—not what a merchant or listing was expected to show.
What the crossed-out price means—and why it may be missing
A crossed-out figure usually represents an original or comparison price, while the unstruck figure is the active sale price. Google Merchant Center says the active sale price should be prominent and the original price less prominent; merchants may distinguish the latter with a strikethrough, gray styling, or another visual treatment. Google’s guidance on sale price annotations concerns Google surfaces and merchant data, not a universal rule for every product page.
The page may not show an original price at all. Google’s sale annotations have eligibility requirements that vary by destination and country, and Google does not guarantee an annotation will appear even when requirements are met. Those conditions apply to Google Search and Shopping annotations; they should not be treated as requirements for every retailer’s own site. Google Merchant Center explains the conditions.
Store configuration can also change the display. As one Shopify example, Omega’s help documentation says a Compare-at price set above the current Price can appear crossed out; a theme or app may affect where or how prices update. Omega’s instructions are specific to its Shopify context, not every Shopify store. In Adobe Commerce, minimum advertised price settings can conceal the selling price behind a “Click for Price” action or show a list or market price crossed out, depending on configuration. Adobe documents this MAP behavior.

So a screenshot can establish what was visible on that page in that state; by itself, a crossed-out price does not prove that the reference price is universally valid or that the discount is available in every market. Keep any description of the price limited to what the captured page shows.
Prepare the page so the price is readable
- Open the exact product page. Wait for the price area to finish rendering. If the site lets you choose a region, variant, quantity, account state, or promotion that changes the price, select the state you intend to document first.
- Put the relevant details together on screen. Keep the product name or another identifying detail and both the active and crossed-out prices in the visible area. Include currency where it is shown.
- Remove obstructions. Close a pop-up, banner, chat panel, tooltip, or other overlay if it covers either price. If a sale-details panel or variant selector affects the claim, make the relevant state visible.
- Take a screenshot with your device’s capture function. The exact control depends on your device, operating system, and browser. Platform-specific shortcut keys and full-page capture availability are not established here, so check the instructions for your specific setup rather than assuming a shortcut or that a standard screenshot includes content below the screen.
- Open and inspect the saved image. Confirm that both amounts and the product identity are legible, the comparison price still appears crossed out, and nothing is cropped, blurred, or covered by a cursor or browser element. Preserve the original file if you need a record. If you annotate a copy, make clear which marks are your annotations rather than page content.
For a price record that may be shared out of context, note the capture date and market alongside the image. Price displays change, and Google’s annotation criteria vary geographically; this is practical context, not a prescribed legal retention standard. A Singapore competition-authority annex illustrates how a product, current price, crossed-out price, and stated savings can appear together in a specific case, but one example does not establish how all merchants display prices. See the annex from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore.

Choose a visible-area or full-page capture
| Capture goal | When it fits | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Visible area | The product identity and both prices fit on screen. | Inspect the saved image to ensure the amounts, currency, and crossed-out styling are clear. |
| Full page | Relevant context is spread across a long page or below the current viewport. | Confirm that your device or browser supports the method and that it preserves rendered price styling and any dynamically loaded content. Availability was not verified for a particular platform here. |
Do not use a full-page method just because the page is long: if the price block is the evidence you need, keep it visible and ensure it is readable in the result. If repeated price tracking is your goal, screenshots can be paired with structured extraction of price and product data; that is a separate monitoring workflow, not a requirement for one capture. ScreenshotCenter describes that recurring use case.

Does a crossed-out price prove the product is discounted in every market?
No. It shows how that page displayed the comparison price at capture time; it does not establish universal validity or availability across markets.
