Use a browser automation tool such as Playwright to set a page’s language, confirm the retailer’s actual storefront and price, then capture the viewport, price element, or full page. Locale and location are separate inputs: neither one alone guarantees that a retailer will show a particular country’s products, currency, shipping options, or price. Record the conditions alongside each screenshot so repeated captures can be compared.
Decide what the screenshot needs to prove
Before automating a capture, define the comparison conditions. A language setting controls some browser signals and formatting; a market price may also depend on the retailer’s storefront, delivery destination, cookies, account state, or other page-specific choices.
- Product URL and retailer storefront or market.
- Browser locale, such as
en-GBorde-DE. - Geolocation coordinates, if the use case depends on location.
- Any delivery-country, currency, or account selection required on the retailer’s site.
- Viewport size and screenshot scope: visible viewport, price element, or full page.
Decide whether you are comparing the same product across storefronts, the same storefront over time, or a shopper experience tied to a delivery destination. These are different monitoring questions and should not be collapsed into a single “country” setting.

Configure Playwright for a language and market
Playwright’s locale option affects navigator.language, the Accept-Language request header, and number and date formatting rules, according to its BrowserType context-options documentation. That makes locale useful for language and formatting tests, but it does not prove that a retailer selected the intended market. Configure and verify the retailer’s own storefront and delivery settings separately.

Geolocation is also separate from locale. Playwright’s emulation documentation describes granting geolocation permission and setting coordinates. A location signal does not establish that a store will change its delivery destination or final price; inspect the resulting page state.
Use a fresh browser context for each controlled run. Playwright documents contexts as isolated sessions, which helps prevent one run’s browser state from casually carrying into another. See Browser contexts.

The following Node.js example creates an isolated context with a chosen locale, optionally grants location permission, loads a product page, and captures a full-page screenshot. Replace the URL, locale, coordinates, and viewport with the conditions you intend to monitor.

}Install Playwright in a Node.js project with npm install playwright, then install its browser with npx playwright install chromium. The example deliberately does not guess a retailer-specific selector or dismiss a particular store dialog: those details differ by site. Add explicit checks for the expected product, market, currency, and price before saving a capture into a monitoring dataset.
Capture only the price or another element
When the evidence needed is a specific price block rather than the whole page, use a selector verified for that retailer:

If the selector matches multiple elements or changes between localized storefronts, narrow it to the visible product’s price and validate the result. Choose full-page capture deliberately
A full-page screenshot records the full scrollable page, which can include details below the fold. Use a viewport capture when only the initially visible offer matters, and an element capture when a focused visual record is easier to compare. Longer pages may take more time and produce larger files; capture only the scope needed for your evidence.
Verify the displayed market before saving evidence
After navigation, check the page itself rather than assuming the browser settings worked as intended. A useful capture should show the expected product and the relevant displayed price and currency. Also verify any retailer market, delivery destination, or selected language that matters to the monitoring question.
Retailer pages can use cookies, storefront selectors, delivery settings, and dynamic content. Those are operational conditions to inspect, not guarantees supplied by Playwright. A page that redirects, displays a region prompt, or retains a previous market choice is not a valid comparison simply because its browser context has a locale set.

Make repeated screenshots comparable
Store a small structured record alongside each image. Playwright does not prescribe a monitoring metadata schema; the following fields make later interpretation practical:
- Capture timestamp and exact URL.
- Locale and intended market.
- Geolocation coordinates and whether location permission was granted, if relevant.
- Observed storefront, delivery destination, price, and currency.
- Viewport dimensions, browser/runtime version, and screenshot scope.
- Any site state that affects the result, such as a selected delivery country or signed-in status.
Keep the browser/runtime, viewport, and capture method consistent between runs when visual differences matter. Playwright notes that rendering can vary with host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode. Its visual comparisons guidance is relevant when evaluating image differences. A changed screenshot is not automatically a changed price: first rule out differences in capture environment, page state, and layout.

The page is in the wrong language
- Check the locale tag and whether the site uses the browser’s language signal.
- Look for a retailer language or storefront selector that overrides browser preferences.
- Verify visible page text before saving; the locale setting changes browser signals and formatting, not every site’s language choice.
The currency or price is for the wrong market
- Check the retailer’s selected storefront and delivery destination, not only the locale.
- If the use case needs a location signal, configure geolocation and grant permission, then verify the page’s response.
- Do not infer a market price from coordinates alone. Confirm the price and currency shown by the retailer.
The price element is missing or the screenshot is blank
- Wait for the specific price selector to become visible rather than relying only on page navigation completing.
- Inspect whether the page has a consent prompt, region dialog, delayed content, or a different product-page layout.
- Check the selector in the rendered page and ensure it identifies the intended price, not a hidden or unrelated value.
Captures differ between runs
- Compare viewport, browser/runtime, host environment, headless mode, and page state.
- Confirm that the same product variant, storefront, and delivery settings were selected.
- Save the observed price and currency as data as well as retaining the image; a screenshot is visual evidence, not a structured price feed.
