Use a browser automation script such as Playwright: prepare an authorized list of page URLs, visit each page, and save a full-page screenshot under a predictable filename. Keep a manifest that maps every URL to its image and records capture status. Pilot a few different pages first; no particular Indian university website is established as tested here, and login requirements or content that loads during scrolling may need extra handling.
Prepare the pages and capture plan
- Choose pages you are authorized to capture. Build a URL list from the university’s navigation and, if available, its sitemap. A sitemap is only a discovery aid: not every site has one, and it may omit pages.
- Decide what each image needs to show. A viewport screenshot records the visible browser area. Use full-page capture when material below the fold matters.
- Set a naming and record-keeping scheme. Use stable filenames and keep a manifest with at least the source URL, output filename, and status. Capture time and browser or viewport settings are useful if you will compare images later.
- Test representative pages. Try different page types, inspect whether content loaded and the intended page was reached, and confirm text and images are readable before running the whole batch.
Capture a URL list with Playwright
The following Python example visits each URL, makes a full-page PNG, and writes a CSV manifest. Install Playwright and its Chromium browser before running it:
python -m pip install playwright
python -m playwright install chromium
Save this as capture_pages.py. Replace the sample URLs with pages you are permitted to capture.

writer = csv.DictWriter(f, fieldnames=rows[0].keys())
writer.writeheader()
writer.writerows(rows)
asyncio.run(main())
Run it with python capture_pages.py. Images and manifest.csv will be saved in university_screenshots. The script uses networkidle as a convenient wait condition, not a guarantee that every page is visually complete. Some sites keep network requests active, while others load content later or only when scrolled; adjust the wait strategy for those pages and verify the images.

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Handle pages that need special treatment
- Login-protected pages: the example does not authenticate. Use only an account and access method you are authorized to use; an unauthenticated capture may show a login screen instead of the intended page.
- Lazy-loaded sections or images: full-page mode captures the scrollable page, but page-specific scripts may load content only after scrolling. Test the result and add controlled scrolling or site-specific waits if needed.
- Redirects: compare
final_urlin the manifest withsource_urlso a redirect to a login, error, or alternate page is visible. - Repeated or malformed URLs: deduplicate and validate the input list before a large run; stable indexed filenames prevent collisions even when paths are similar.
- Large batches: process a pilot first, then manageable groups. Keeping per-page status and error text allows failed captures to be retried without losing track of successful ones.
Troubleshoot common capture problems
- Navigation times out: the page may be slow, unavailable, or continuously active. Check the URL in a browser, and try a less restrictive wait condition such as
domcontentloadedfollowed by a short, page-appropriate wait. - The screenshot is blank or incomplete: verify the destination and final URL, allow the page’s visible content to load, and inspect whether it requires scrolling, login, or an interaction.
- Some pages fail while others work: retain the manifest’s error and status fields, correct the affected URLs or handling, and rerun only those entries.
- Images are too small to read: increase the viewport dimensions or capture the relevant element separately; check long full-page images at their intended viewing scale.

ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns a screenshot or PDF. Its clean-shot steps can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with page-verdict and billing headers in the response. It also provides an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents, and its free plan includes 1,000 shots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Open a sample of the saved files and reconcile them with the manifest. Review failed statuses, redirects, duplicate URLs, missing content, and readability. The behavior of a particular university website depends on its own access controls and page scripts, so a small validated pilot is the safest basis for scaling up.
