To capture Google search results as they appear in Microsoft Edge on Windows, open the results page, frame the query and results you need, then press Windows+Shift+S and select a rectangular area. Save the image with the audit record. For results farther down the page, scroll and take additional screenshots in order. Use Edge’s print-to-PDF flow when you need a paginated record rather than a pixel-faithful screenshot.
Capture the visible Google results in Edge
- Open the search you are auditing. In Edge, load Google and run the exact query. Arrange the window so the query and the results relevant to the audit are visible.
- Open the Windows capture overlay. Press Windows+Shift+S. Choose rectangular snip and drag around the portion of the screen you want to preserve. Windows Snipping Tool also offers window and full-screen capture modes.
- Save the capture. Open the Snipping Tool notification or the captured image, then save it with a descriptive filename in the audit folder.
- Capture lower results separately. Scroll to the next section and repeat. Name or number the files in sequence so their order is clear; do not stitch them together in a way that obscures where one viewport ends and another begins.
A screen capture records the pixels visible in Edge at that moment. It preserves the layout and context shown on screen, but one viewport does not include results below the fold.
Choose between a screenshot and Edge’s print flow
If by “full Google results page” you mean more of the page than fits in one screen, decide whether the audit needs a visual record of the displayed pixels or a longer, paginated document.

Print or save a longer record
- With the Google results page open in Edge, press Ctrl+P.
- Review the print preview and adjust available page and margin options. Check whether background graphics should be included.
- Choose the printer or PDF destination available on your system, then save or print the record.
- Inspect the resulting pages before filing them. Confirm that the query and relevant results are present and that pagination has not changed what the evidence appears to show.
To print only part of a webpage, select the desired content, right-click the selection, and choose Print. This is still a print representation, not a screen capture.

Record the context needed to interpret the evidence
A SERP can vary with the search context. Save the screenshot alongside a note containing the details needed to reproduce or interpret the observation. These are practical audit-record recommendations, not a prescribed Google checklist.
- Exact query: include the spelling, punctuation, and any search operators used.
- Capture date and time: record the observation time and timezone.
- Country or location and language: note the search context used.
- Device or viewport: record whether the result was viewed in a desktop-sized Edge window or another viewport.
- Session context: note relevant sign-in, personalization, or other session conditions where known.
- Capture sequence: identify the order of screenshots when results span multiple scroll positions.
When comparing competitors or repeating an observation later, keep the viewport and other recorded conditions consistent where possible. Avoid cropping out the query or other context that a reviewer needs to understand what the image shows.

Do not confuse a SERP capture with Search Console screenshots
A manual screenshot of Google Search in Edge shows a search-results page as it appeared to the auditor. Google Search Console’s URL Inspection screenshot answers a different question: for a successful live test, it shows how Google’s inspection tool retrieved and rendered the tested website page. It does not show that page’s listing in Google search results.
URL Inspection is useful for checking a page’s rendering in a live test; indexed data reflects what Google has in its index. Choose the evidence that matches the audit question: a manual Edge capture for a visible SERP observation, or URL Inspection for Google’s rendering of a specific tested URL.

Use Search Console for measured search performance
A SERP screenshot is a visual observation, not a report of your site’s search performance. For your own site’s measured activity, use Search Console’s Performance report. It reports clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position, and can be examined by queries and pages with search-type and date-range controls. Pair the report with screenshots if the audit needs both performance metrics and visual evidence of a particular results page.
A single screenshot cannot establish that a page is unindexed or characterize its visibility across other queries, locations, devices, or dates. Google cautions that a page may be indexed without appearing on the first results page. Treat the capture as evidence of one observed search context, not a complete visibility diagnosis.
