To capture French Google results reliably, set the results-language filter to French, choose the target results region separately, run your query, then use Firefox’s screenshot tool to save the visible page or the full page. Record those settings and the capture date with the image: a screenshot documents one search under specific conditions, not a universal or stable ranking.
Set French results and the target market separately
Google’s interface language, the language of results, and the results region are separate controls. A French interface alone does not establish that results are filtered to French, and French-language results alone do not establish a France-specific market context. Google presents results language and results region as separate preferences in Search settings.
- Open Google Search settings and set the results language to French.
- Choose the results region for the market you are studying, such as France. Do not assume that choosing French also chooses France.
- Save the settings, then search the exact query you want to investigate.
For a one-off search, the Results Language Filter may also be available on the results page: open Tools, choose Any language, then select French. Google describes this filter as applying mainly to web results; it may not affect some Search features or pages whose language Google cannot detect (Google’s filter guidance).

As a result, selecting French does not guarantee that every result or Search feature will be French (Google’s language guidance).
Capture the results page in Firefox
- Open the Google results page and let the content you need render.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Select Save full page to include content beyond the visible viewport, or Save visible to capture only what is currently on screen.
- Download the image and store it with a short note describing the search conditions.
Firefox documents these screenshot choices in its screenshot instructions. Use a visible capture when the first-screen layout is the subject; choose a full-page capture when you need the complete rendered results page.
Use Firefox DevTools for a full-page capture
Firefox DevTools also supports full-page screenshots. Enable the full-page screenshot tool in DevTools, or use the Web Console command:

screenshot <filename.png> --fullpage
See Firefox’s DevTools command-line helper documentation for details.
Keep the screenshot interpretable for later SEO review
Save a note alongside each image so another reviewer can understand the conditions behind it. Record:
Rank #3
- The exact query, including punctuation or operators.
- The capture date.
- The selected results language and results region.
- The browser and device or viewport context.
- Whether the image is visible-only or full-page.
For comparisons, keep the query, date, language, region, browser or device context, and capture scope consistent. These controls help make the screenshots comparable; they do not make search results fixed or universal.
Read the screenshot as an observation, not an implementation audit
A screenshot shows what appeared for the recorded search conditions. It does not independently establish that a website has correctly implemented language targeting or that its rankings will remain the same.
Rank #4
When assessing a site’s French-language version, keep observed search results separate from claims about the site’s implementation. Google Search Central recommends distinct URLs for language versions and hreflang annotations to help Google connect users with the appropriate version. It warns that dynamically changing content or redirecting users based on language settings may prevent Google from discovering every variation (Google Search Central’s multi-regional and multilingual site guidance).
Nor does a google.fr address alone prove that a search is controlled for France. Google says its localized Search experience is available on google.com as well as country-code domains (Google’s explanation of localized Search).

ScreenshotNeo can capture a page with one GET request. The API returns an image or PDF; its documentation is at ScreenshotNeo docs.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aexample.com%20en%20fran%C3%A7ais -o shot.webp
Replace the example URL with the Google results URL for your query. ScreenshotNeo accepts and removes known cookie or consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
