To screenshot Google results for an ecommerce SEO audit in India, run the exact query, check the intended region and language, capture the relevant desktop or mobile results page, and record the conditions alongside the image. A screenshot is evidence of one search at one time and under one context—not proof that every searcher in India sees the same results.
Set the search context before you capture
Decide what the screenshot is meant to document. Google says Search result elements can vary by country, device, query and language; its Visual Elements Gallery describes the different visual elements that may appear on a results page.

- Query: Write down the exact ecommerce keyword, including any product, brand or place name.
- Geography: Decide whether you are checking India generally or a particular city or service area.
- Language: Use the language relevant to the audience and record it.
- Device: Choose desktop or mobile. If both matter, capture them separately.
- Time: Record the date and time of each search.
Keep these fields consistent when comparing results before and after a site change. If you intentionally change one—for example, switching from desktop to mobile—label that difference rather than treating the images as directly equivalent.
Check Google’s region, language and reported location
- Open Google Search settings and check the search language and region for the intended observation. Google documents language and location controls in its Search browser settings help. The settings interface is being updated, so labels and their placement may change.
- For a local-intent query, look at the location Google reports, often shown at the bottom of the results page. Google says it estimates location using multiple signals, which may include device location and account home or work addresses. See Understand and manage your location when you search on Google.
- If the audit is city-specific, include the city in the query when that reflects the search you want to assess. Also record the city in your audit notes. Selecting India as the region does not, by itself, establish a particular city-level search context.
Do not assume a selected region fully controls the location context. Note whether you were signed in or believe personalization may have applied, and record the location Google reports when it is available.

Capture and label the results page
- Run the exact query after checking the settings and location context.
- Frame the query and the result features relevant to the audit. Depending on the query, that may include shopping results, product listings, organic results or other visible result types.
- Capture the visible page on the chosen device or viewport. If you use a full-page image, record the viewport or device context too; a long capture alone may not make clear whether it represents mobile or desktop.
- Save the image with a clear filename or attach a note containing the query, timestamp, intended region or city, language, device or viewport, reported location and known sign-in or personalization context.
Google does not prescribe a specific screenshot template for SEO audits. The label fields above are practical audit-recording recommendations so another person can interpret the image and reproduce the observation as closely as possible.
Compare captures without mixing contexts
For a meaningful comparison, keep the query, region or city, language, device or viewport, and known personalization state steady; record the date and time for each image. If you are testing a change, vary one context field at a time and label it. For example, compare desktop and mobile as two separate observations rather than combining them into a single conclusion about rankings.
Even with controlled settings, a screenshot documents only the observed results page. It cannot establish that rankings are consistent across India, confirm technical crawlability, validate structured data, or show how Google renders the merchant’s own page.

A Google results-page capture and a screenshot from Search Console’s URL Inspection tool answer different questions. URL Inspection can show how Google’s inspection tool rendered an inspected page after a successful live test; it does not capture the search results page.
