Request the sign-in link, complete the service’s authentication flow in the browser it expects, and capture the account page only after its content is visible. A magic link is an email-delivered login credential; whether it must open in the browser where you started depends on the service.
Complete the magic-link sign-in first
- Open the account’s normal sign-in page. Enter the email address associated with the account and request a sign-in link. A magic link lets you authenticate through an email-delivered credential rather than a password. Google for Developers explains passwordless sign-in methods.
- Leave the sign-in tab open. Retrieve the email in your email app, then follow the service’s instructions. If the provider binds the request to the browser that began sign-in, open the link there. M7, for example, instructs users to “Use the original browser”; if the email opens elsewhere, its flow directs users back to the original page to enter a code. That is M7-specific guidance, not a universal requirement. M7 support
- Finish any confirmation or callback step. Some services redirect back to the site; others require a code or a callback credential. Magic’s SDK, for example, documents a redirect URI and a callback that uses
loginWithCredential. Follow the account provider’s actual flow rather than assuming that clicking the email link completes every service’s sign-in. Magic’s Web SDK reference - Verify the account page. Wait until the page displays the account content you need. A sign-in form, loading indicator, or email message is not the authenticated account page.
Choose what to capture
Decide whether the image needs only the visible details or the entire page. A selected region can keep unrelated account information out of the capture. Full-page capture includes content below the fold and may reveal details you did not intend to share.
- Visible page or selected region: useful when only a particular section is needed.
- Full page: useful when the relevant information extends below the screen; inspect the complete image for private details before sharing.
Take the screenshot in your browser or operating system
Firefox: use the built-in screenshot tool
- On the authenticated page, right-click an empty area and choose Take Screenshot, or press Ctrl+Shift+S (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+S (macOS).
- Choose a region or the visible page, or select Save full page for a full-page image.
- Download the image or copy it, then open it and check what it contains. Mozilla documents these capture choices in its Firefox screenshot guide, last updated June 15, 2026.
Chrome or another browser: use an approved local method
An operating-system screenshot captures what is displayed on screen; the shortcut and selection controls vary by device. For a full-page Chrome capture, a Google Chrome Community reply dated March 6, 2025 suggests opening DevTools and running the command capture full size screenshot. This is community advice, not official Chrome documentation, and the available commands may differ by browser version or environment. Use a locally available method that your organization permits.
Protect the account before sharing the image
- Crop or redact unrelated email addresses, account identifiers, balances, and other personal details.
- Do not include the email containing the sign-in link.
- Do not share a URL that contains an authentication credential. Magic documents a credential token in its redirect flow; keeping credential-bearing URLs out of shared images is a security precaution based on that role. Magic’s Web SDK reference

Troubleshoot sign-in and capture problems
The link opens in a different browser
Return to the browser where sign-in began. If the provider offers a one-time code, use it on the original sign-in page; otherwise request a fresh link from the official sign-in page. M7 documents the original-browser requirement for its own flow, but other services may behave differently. M7 support
The link appears expired or already used
Request another link through the account’s official sign-in page. Expiration and one-time-use rules depend on the provider. Magic documents a default 900-second (15-minute) lifespan for a resolved DID token; that is a token setting, not a general expiration period for emailed magic links. Magic’s Web SDK reference

The screenshot shows a login form
Authentication may not have completed in the browser being captured. Finish the provider’s callback or retry the flow in the initiating browser, then verify that the account content appears before capturing.
Screenshot commands are unavailable
A managed Chrome environment can apply screenshot-prevention policies to selected sites and capture methods, including shortcuts and extensions. Ask the administrator for an approved way to document the account rather than trying to bypass the policy. Chrome Enterprise policy documentation
