Give your AI agent a clear instruction to open the website, wait for it to render, save a full-page screenshot as an image, and export a separate PDF. With Playwright CLI, those are two commands: playwright-cli screenshot --full-page --filename=website.png and playwright-cli pdf --filename=website.pdf. A screenshot is an image; the PDF is a separate browser-rendered document.
What to ask the AI agent to do
Use this Hindi prompt, replacing the example with the page you want:

The prompt names the URL, asks for the entire scrollable page, specifies both output formats and filenames, and asks the agent to confirm that both files exist. If you only want the visible portion, replace “पूरे scrollable पेज” with “वर्तमान viewport.” Waiting for rendering matters on long or dynamic pages; there is no single wait duration established for every site.

Use Playwright CLI
When the agent can run Playwright CLI commands in its working environment, ask it to execute these two commands for the page it has opened:

playwright-cli pdf --filename=website.pdfThe first command saves a full-page image; the second exports a PDF. The screenshot command can also capture the current viewport or a target element. Its documented image formats are PNG, JPEG and WebP; the filename extension helps select the format. To capture only the current viewport, omit --full-page:

If the agent is writing browser automation rather than issuing CLI commands, use the Playwright Page API. This runnable JavaScript example assumes the Playwright package is installed and a browser page has been opened and navigated to the target URL:

Choose how the PDF should look
page.pdf() renders with print CSS media by default. If the site has print-specific styles but you want its screen styling instead, set the media mode before exporting:

Other ways an AI agent can capture the page
Playwright MCP
If your agent uses Playwright MCP, its screenshot tool can capture the viewport, an element or the full scrollable page. A screenshot helps inspect visual layout; an accessibility snapshot is a separate way to understand page structure and interactions. Chrome Headless CLI
Where Chrome is available in headless mode, its command-line reference documents --screenshot for an image and --print-to-pdf for PDF output. The --timeout option adds render time before capture. For example, an agent can adapt this pattern to the installed Chrome command and target URL:

Check the files and diagnose common problems
- The image shows only part of the page: A viewport capture includes only what is visible. Use
--full-pagein the CLI orfullPage: truein the Page API for the full scrollable page. - You got an image but no PDF, or the reverse: Screenshot and PDF are separate outputs. Run or request both capture operations and confirm that both named files were created.
- The PDF looks different from the browser: Playwright PDF output uses print CSS media by default. If screen styling is needed, call
page.emulateMedia({ media: 'screen' })beforepage.pdf(). Print color adjustment can also affect appearance. - The capture is incomplete on a dynamic page: Ask the agent to wait for the page to render before capturing. In Chrome Headless,
--timeoutcan add render time; no fixed duration suits every page. - The agent cannot find a command or tool: It may not have Playwright CLI, Playwright MCP, or Chrome configured in its environment. Ask it which browser workflow is available, then use the matching CLI, API or MCP instructions above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an AI agent save both a screenshot and a PDF?
Yes. Ask it for both outputs explicitly: the screenshot is an image file, while the PDF is a separate export.
Does a full-page screenshot include the whole website?
It captures the page’s scrollable content, not every page on the website. To capture multiple URLs, request a capture for each one.
