For a full-page capture, enable the screenshot button in Developer Tools settings; for more control over filenames, delays, selectors, and clipboard output, use the Web Console’s :screenshot command.
Choose the Firefox capture method

Open Firefox Developer Tools
Open Tools > Web Developer > Web Developer Tools, or use the keyboard shortcut for your operating system:
- Windows or Linux: Ctrl+Shift+I or F12
- macOS: Cmd+Option+I
Opening Developer Tools this way targets the active tab. Firefox’s interface labels and shortcuts can vary with release or user configuration.
Capture the entire webpage with the screenshot button
- Open Developer Tools for the page you want to capture.
- Open Developer Tools settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. The button is not enabled by default.
- Click the screenshot button in the Developer Tools toolbar. Firefox saves the image to its Downloads directory.
Capture a single element in the Inspector
- Open Developer Tools and select the Inspector tab.
- In the HTML pane, locate the element you want.
- Right-click its node and choose Screenshot Node.
Firefox captures the selected node and saves the image to Downloads. This is a direct option when you can identify the element in the Inspector.

Use the Web Console for more capture options
Open the Web Console and enter a :screenshot command. For example, to save a full-page image with a chosen filename:
:screenshot page.png --fullpageFirefox documents these options:
--fullpage: include webpage content outside the current window bounds.--selector "CSS selector": capture the element matched by a CSS selector.--filename name.png: set the PNG filename.--delay seconds: wait before capturing, useful when you need time for a menu or hover state to appear.--dpr number: set the device-pixel ratio. A value above 1 produces a more zoomed-in image; a value below 1 produces a more zoomed-out image.--clipboard: copy the screenshot to the clipboard. By itself, this prevents saving a file.--file: force file writing when another option, such as--clipboard, is also used.
For example, capture a selected element by its CSS selector with a chosen filename:

:screenshot --delay 2 --clipboard --file --filename menu.pngFor full-page captures, Firefox appends -fullpage to the filename. Reusing the same filename overwrites the previous image, so choose a different name when keeping successive captures.

Capture the visible viewport in Responsive Design Mode
- Open Responsive Design Mode for the page.
- Click its camera button to take a viewport screenshot.
The screenshot is saved to Firefox’s default download location. If Screenshot to clipboard is enabled in Developer Tools settings, the capture is also copied to the system clipboard.
Troubleshoot common capture issues
The full-page screenshot button is missing
It is not enabled by default. Open Developer Tools settings, find Available Toolbox Buttons, and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.

The capture shows only the visible area
Use the full-page toolbar button or add --fullpage to a Web Console command. Responsive Design Mode’s camera route is for a viewport screenshot.
The screenshot was copied but no file appeared
--clipboard suppresses file saving unless you also use --file. Add that option when you want both clipboard output and a saved image.

A previous image disappeared
A Web Console capture reusing a filename overwrites the previous image. Specify a different filename for each capture you need to retain.
The menu or hover state is missing
Use --delay seconds to wait before the capture, giving the interface time to reach the desired state.
