To capture an entire scrolling page in Chrome on a Windows laptop, open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I, open its Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P, then run Capture full size screenshot. For only the visible area, use DevTools’ Device mode screenshot command or Windows Snipping Tool. The workflow is the same in India; the cited Chrome guidance does not identify an India-specific variant.
Capture the entire web page in Chrome
- Open the page in Chrome. Wait for the content you need to appear. If the site loads images or sections as you scroll, scroll through the relevant parts first; a full-page capture does not guarantee that delayed or interactive content has loaded. Chrome’s Device mode documentation describes the full-size capture, while the shortcut sequence is given in a Chrome Help Community response.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open Chrome DevTools.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the DevTools Command Menu.
- Type Capture full size screenshot and select the matching command. Chrome captures the page beyond the visible viewport. The sources cited here do not establish a universal save folder, so check Chrome’s download or save prompt rather than assuming a particular location.
Chrome’s documentation describes the result as a screenshot of the whole page, including content outside the viewport. The capture is of the rendered page, so it may not represent animations, personalized content, or interactive states exactly as they appeared at another moment.
Capture only what is visible
Use Chrome DevTools for a viewport screenshot
- Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I.
- Turn on Device mode using the device toolbar control in DevTools.
- Open More options > Capture screenshot. This captures the Device mode viewport rather than the entire scrolling page. The menu distinction is documented in Chrome’s Device mode guide.
Use Windows Snipping Tool for a screen excerpt
For a quick visible portion of the browser, use Windows Snipping Tool. It captures screen content rather than extending the capture down the webpage, so it is not a substitute for DevTools’ full-size command. A Chrome Help Community discussion suggests Snipping Tool as a Windows option, but is not official Windows documentation: Chrome Help Community: Screenshots.
Choose the method by what you need
| Need | Method | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| Long article or page, including content below the fold | DevTools Command Menu > Capture full size screenshot | The full page, beyond the visible viewport |
| Only the page area currently shown in DevTools Device mode | Device mode > More options > Capture screenshot | The Device mode viewport |
| A visible screen region or excerpt | Windows Snipping Tool | Screen content, not a full scrolling web page |
If the screenshot does not work as expected
- The capture stops at the visible screen: Make sure you selected Capture full size screenshot, not the Device mode Capture screenshot command.
- Part of the page is missing: Scroll through the page first if it loads material on demand, then try the full-size command again. Check that the missing content is actually present in the page before capturing.
- You cannot find the DevTools shortcut: On Windows, the cited Chrome Help Community guidance gives Ctrl+Shift+I for DevTools and Ctrl+Shift+P for the Command Menu. The shortcut guidance is community-provided rather than Chrome’s primary documentation: Chrome Help Community response.
- Your laptop has no obvious PrtScn key: Key placement and Fn-layer behavior vary by laptop. A community reply mentions Windows+PrtScn or Fn+Windows+Space on some devices and suggests checking Pictures/Screenshots, but those behaviors are not guaranteed for every configuration: Chrome Help Community: Run Command shortcut.
Or skip the browser setup
For automated captures from code, ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. Its API can accept a URL and supports PNG, JPEG, or WebP output. For example, save a WebP capture of a page with cURL:
#1 Best Overall
- 14" diagonal, 1366x768 resolution, HD BrightView LED, Glossy NON-TOUCH Display
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
