Scroll the page before capturing it. Pause as new sections and images appear, then use Chrome DevTools’ Capture a full size screenshot command. The full-size command captures beyond the viewport, but it does not guarantee that every deferred image has loaded.

Why a full-page screenshot can still miss images

Chrome’s full-size capture can include content outside the visible viewport, but capturing the page and loading its images are separate steps. A page may defer offscreen images until they approach the viewport; the browser’s trigger distance is calculated and varies with factors such as image resource type and effective connection type. It is not a fixed distance you can rely on. Chrome DevTools documents full-size capture, and Chrome’s lazy-loading guidance describes how deferred image loading works.

How to capture the page in Chrome

  1. Open the page and wait for the content already on screen to settle.
  2. Scroll downward in moderate increments. Pause when new content appears and give its images time to load.
  3. Continue to the bottom of the page. If a panel inside the page has its own scrollbar, scroll that panel through its content too.
  4. Return to the top if you want the screenshot to begin there.
  5. Open Chrome DevTools and switch to Device mode if needed. Open More options, then select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome describes this command as capturing the whole page, including content outside the current viewport. See Chrome’s instructions.
  6. Open the saved image and check sections where images were deferred. If you see blanks, revisit those sections, wait for images to appear, and capture again.

What to do when images or sections are missing

Blank image areas

Scroll back to the affected section and wait for the images to render before taking a new screenshot. A full-size capture does not itself ensure that every deferred image request has happened.

Content inside a nested scroll area

Move the inner panel’s scrollbar through its full range, not just the page scrollbar. Content in a separately scrolling area may not be exposed by scrolling the outer page.

Infinite feeds and virtualized pages

Some pages create content as you scroll or keep only nearby sections in the document. In those cases, one static full-page capture may not contain everything. Capture sections as they appear, or consider a tool that explicitly supports the page’s layout. A Chrome Web Store listing for FullPageShot claims support for lazy images and body or inner scrolling, while noting limitations with some virtualized and infinite-scroll pages; those are listing claims, not independent performance tests. Check the listing and its current permissions before installing any extension.

Why can an infinite-scroll page still be incomplete?

Some sites only create or retain content as it is scrolled into view, so a single static full-page capture may not include every section.
