Sign in to the hospital’s official patient portal, open the page you need, then use your phone’s built-in screenshot buttons. On iPhone, the button combination depends on the model; on Android, Power + Volume Down is common but not universal. Treat the resulting image as sensitive health information: review it, limit what it shows, and share it only with the intended recipient.
Before you sign in
- Open the hospital’s official website or app yourself. Avoid login links in unsolicited messages, and check that the website address and hospital are correct before entering patient credentials.
- Sign in using the portal’s normal process. Portals differ. For example, India’s Government ORS Patient Portal supports appointment and health-record access and asks users to select a hospital and identify themselves: ORS Patient Portal.
- Go to the specific record or page you need. Avoid opening or capturing unrelated pages or another patient’s information.
Take the screenshot on your phone
iPhone
- Face ID model: Press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up at the same time.
- Touch ID with a side button: Press and quickly release the Side button and Home button at the same time.
- Touch ID with a top button: Press and quickly release the Top button and Home button at the same time.
Apple’s instructions cover these model families. After capture, you can edit, share, or save the image. On iOS 26, quick tools appear automatically; on iOS 18 and earlier, a temporary thumbnail appears. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot instructions for the current steps and model details.
Android
On many Android phones, press Power and Volume Down together. The exact control can vary by manufacturer, model, and software. If that combination does not work, use the phone’s screenshot control if available or consult the manufacturer’s current instructions. Google’s Android Community screenshot guide includes general and Pixel guidance; it is not a universal specification for every Android device.

Review and protect the image
A patient portal page may show visit details, examinations, diagnoses, medical history, treatment, prescriptions, or investigation orders. The Government of India’s e-Hospital portal describes these kinds of patient services and information: e-Hospital@NIC.

- Check the image before keeping or sharing it. Crop or redact unrelated details, and confirm that names and identifiers are appropriate for the recipient.
- Save it locally somewhere protected by your device’s normal lock and account protections. Be mindful of shared galleries, automatic backups, and messaging previews.
- Send it only to the person or organization that needs it, using a channel the hospital or recipient recommends. Remove extra copies when they are no longer needed, including copies in Recently Deleted or trash if appropriate.
- Avoid third-party screenshot, OCR, cloud-storage, or image-sharing tools for patient information unless you understand where the data goes and have a valid reason to use them.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare describes personal health records as managed, shared, and controlled by the individual, and says ABHA supports interaction with participating providers and receipt of digital records: ABDM/PHR overview. A National Health Authority support FAQ says hospitals must maintain confidentiality and not share records with unauthorized people, but that FAQ is older and context-specific; it should not be treated as a complete statement of current Indian law: NHA Tech Support FAQ.
Portal restrictions and alternatives
Screenshot availability and rules depend on the specific hospital portal. The hospital has not been specified, so no particular portal’s terms or restrictions can be established here. Check the portal’s own help or terms, or ask its support desk if you are unsure. Do not disable or bypass a portal or device security restriction to capture a page.

If you need the record for an insurance claim, clinical review, formal request, or legal record, ask the recipient whether the portal’s download, print, or export function is preferable. Such an option may or may not be available on your portal.
