In general, you cannot scrape Redfin listings without prior express written permission from the applicable Redfin company. Redfin’s Terms of Use, updated September 29, 2025, prohibit automated crawling or querying, including screen and database scraping. For a legitimate data project, seek written authorization or arrange licensed access through the relevant local MLS or an authorized provider.

Can you scrape Redfin listings?

Redfin’s Terms of Use say users may not “automatedly crawl or query the Services for any purpose or by any means,” including screen scraping, database scraping, spiders, robots, or crawlers, unless they first receive express written permission from the applicable Redfin company. This restriction applies even when the listings are visible on a public-facing page. Read the Redfin Terms of Use before planning automated access; the terms were updated September 29, 2025.

Redfin also states that MLS information is for personal, non-commercial use and prohibits redistribution and data mining or scraping. It says the MLS sources own the listing data and disclaims guarantees about its reliability, accuracy, or currency. These terms do not establish general permission to collect, republish, or build a commercial dataset from Redfin pages.

Does Redfin have a public listings API?

The official materials cited here do not establish a public Redfin listings API for general scraping. If your project needs Redfin data specifically, ask the applicable Redfin company for written authorization and for any approved access method. Do not treat a page’s public availability, a robots.txt rule, browser automation, request throttling, or use of a proxy as permission to automate collection.

How to get listing data through an authorized route

  1. Define your use. Identify the geographic area, intended purpose, fields and media you need, how the data will be displayed, and how long you expect to retain it.
  2. Contact the local MLS or an authorized data provider. Ask whether it offers access for your use case and what license, credentialing, display, retention, and update requirements apply. Availability and rights vary by MLS and agreement.
  3. Confirm field-level rights and conditions in writing. Check which listing fields and media you may access, store, display, or redistribute, and whether there are limits on users, geography, refresh frequency, or derived data.
  4. Complete the provider’s access process. After the relevant agreement is in place, the MLS or provider will explain how to obtain credentials and technical instructions. Use only the scope and methods it authorizes.
  5. Implement against the provider’s documentation. Filter requests to the approved geography and use, and follow the agreement for updates, storage, display, and access controls.

What RESO and MLS Grid do—and do not—provide

RESO Web API

RESO defines real-estate data standards and a Web API standard; it does not supply MLS listing records, licenses, or credentials. RESO states, “RESO does not provide MLS real estate data.” Access must be arranged with the local MLS or another authorized data provider. See RESO’s Web API overview and its Web API FAQ.

MLS Grid

MLS Grid is one possible route where the relevant MLS participates. Its materials describe a common RESO-compliant feed governed by a license agreement; each party accessing the data must accept the applicable agreement. Its API documentation shows bearer-token authentication and OData-style queries, but credentials are required. Participation, available data, and permitted uses depend on the MLS and license, so MLS Grid should not be assumed to cover every area or authorize every use. See MLS Grid and its API documentation.

What to verify before choosing a feed

  • Coverage: Does the provider include the local MLS and the geography you need?
  • Permitted use: Does the license cover your project, audience, and commercial or non-commercial purpose?
  • Fields and media: Which listing fields, photos, and other media are available, and what are you allowed to display or retain?
  • Freshness: How often can data be refreshed, and what update timing does the provider actually commit to?
  • Credentials and access: Who qualifies, how are credentials issued, and what security or user restrictions apply?
  • Costs and terms: What fees, contract terms, and renewal conditions apply? The official materials cited here do not establish comparable prices across providers.

Listing freshness is not a universal guarantee

Redfin reports that “70% of new US listings in MLS® feeds received by Redfin will post within 5 minutes.” The publication year is not stated on the Redfin data-quality page. Treat this as Redfin’s reported figure, not a guarantee for a particular locality or a universal service-level commitment. Local rules and feed conditions can affect listing updates.

If your goal is a clean screenshot of a listing page—not a licensed dataset—ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. A screenshot is an image or PDF of a page, not structured listing data, and it does not grant permission to scrape Redfin or override its terms.

For an authorized page you may capture, this cURL request returns a WebP screenshot:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Replace the example URL with the target you are authorized to capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card required; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Sign up for ScreenshotNeo free: 1,000 screenshots a month, no card.
