Advanced Scene Switcher can schedule OBS actions for particular dates and times, so you can show different prepared content in a live stream at different hours. It does not schedule edits to a playlist on your YouTube channel. Manage that playlist in YouTube Studio; use OBS scenes and Advanced Scene Switcher when you mean the content viewers see in your live output.
First, decide which playlist you mean
A YouTube channel playlist and a sequence of videos shown during a live stream are separate things:
- Change a public YouTube playlist: use YouTube Studio to add videos or reorder them. YouTube’s instructions describe manual playlist management, not clock-based changes initiated by OBS. YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.
- Show different content on a live stream by time of day: prepare the content in OBS, then use Advanced Scene Switcher to schedule OBS macro actions. This changes the stream output, not the channel playlist.
If your goal is the second one—for example, show one video at 13:00, another later, and a waiting screen between them—continue with the OBS workflow below.

What you need
- OBS Studio with the scenes and sources you want to show. OBS scenes combine sources, including media, into the stream output. OBS Studio overview.
- Advanced Scene Switcher, an OBS plugin that runs a list of actions when its configured conditions are met. The project resource describes macros as “a list of conditions under which a list of actions will be performed.” Advanced Scene Switcher resource.
The OBS Project Forums resource currently lists Advanced Scene Switcher version 1.36.1, OBS Studio 31.1.1 as the minimum OBS version, and Windows, macOS, and Linux support. Versions and compatibility requirements can change, so check the resource page before installing.

Prepare the stream content in OBS
- Create a scene for each scheduled block. In OBS, make a scene for each distinct output you need, such as “Video 1,” “Waiting screen,” and “Video 2.” Add and arrange the relevant media or other sources in each scene. OBS scenes and sources make up what viewers see in the stream.
- Check the media behavior in your own project. Confirm that each video or source appears and plays as you intend when you select its scene. Configure any transitions or source behavior needed for your particular setup.
- Confirm the intended sequence. Write down which scene or source action should happen at each time, including any waiting screen. This gives you a clear schedule to translate into macros.
Schedule macro actions with Advanced Scene Switcher
Advanced Scene Switcher added a Macro Schedule tab in version 1.34.0. The project’s release history says it is intended to make scheduling macro actions at a given date and time easier. Advanced Scene Switcher release history.
- Open Advanced Scene Switcher in OBS. Find its Macro Schedule capability and use it to plan actions for your intended dates and times. The exact current field names and click sequence are not established here; consult the plugin’s current interface and documentation for your installed version.
- Associate each scheduled time with an OBS action. Set the action to affect the prepared output—for example, switch to the scene for the next scheduled block or perform an appropriate media/source action for your project. The required action depends on how you arranged your scenes and sources.
- Account for every transition. If the schedule includes a waiting screen between videos, schedule that output as its own block rather than assuming the next video will start automatically.
- Test the schedule before relying on it unattended. Check that the expected OBS scene or source action occurs at the intended time in your own setup. A feature description does not guarantee that a particular project’s macro configuration will work as intended.
Advanced Scene Switcher runs actions in OBS; it does not write changes into a YouTube Studio playlist. For channel playlist membership or order, use YouTube Studio’s playlist controls.

Troubleshooting the scheduling workflow
- The YouTube playlist did not change: Advanced Scene Switcher schedules OBS actions, not YouTube Studio playlist edits. Make the playlist change in YouTube Studio.
- The stream shows the wrong content: Check that the scheduled action targets the intended scene or source, and confirm that the scene contains the correct media.
- A scheduled transition did not happen as expected: Verify the date and time in the schedule and the macro’s intended OBS action. Test in your actual OBS setup before relying on unattended operation.
- The plugin is unavailable or incompatible: Check the current Advanced Scene Switcher resource listing for its version, supported platforms, and minimum OBS version. The listing can change over time.
