Choose the BrowserStack capture route
BrowserStack documents Percy as its path for website screenshot capture and visual comparison. Use Percy with Automate when the visual test needs a combination of desktop, mobile, browser, or device configurations. BrowserStack distinguishes that route from Percy Web, which is intended for visual tests on the newest browsers. See BrowserStack’s Percy SDK integration guide.
The recurring schedule is a separate concern: Percy captures during a test run, while your test runner or CI system determines when that run starts. The exact schedule setup therefore depends on the runner and CI scheduler already in your project.

Use a supported SDK integration to add Percy to the suite. BrowserStack’s Selenium and Mocha JS guide shows one example. The integration guide describes automatic capture through

Select when a snapshot should be taken
The Selenium/Mocha guide lists
auto,testcase,click,screenshot, andmanualcapture modes. Choose the mode that matches the test’s meaningful page state. In manual mode, place an explicit screenshot call after the page has reached the state you want reviewed rather than capturing too early. -
Configure recurrence in your existing scheduler
Set the recurring trigger in the test runner or CI scheduler your project uses, and have that job launch the Percy-enabled suite. BrowserStack’s cited Percy pages explain capture and integrations, but do not provide verified, vendor-specific steps for configuring a schedule in a particular CI product. Consult that scheduler’s current documentation for its syntax and timing rules.

Stabilize the viewport and page state
Automate screenshots use the current browser window size. Set the intended dimensions before the screenshot call if width matters or if the suite checks multiple responsive layouts. Keep relevant page state consistent between runs so comparisons reflect changes you care about. BrowserStack explains the viewport behavior in its viewport-width guidance.

Choose full-page or scoped coverage
For long pages, Percy with Automate supports a full-page option; see BrowserStack’s full-page screenshot documentation. When only a particular component or region is relevant, Percy CLI supports scoped snapshots. The Percy CLI guide describes that approach. BrowserStack recommends verifying an entire page for broader coverage, so scope snapshots deliberately rather than excluding context by default.

Review each Percy build
Subsequent test runs capture screenshots for comparison and surface visual changes for review. Use the Percy build results to inspect changes and decide whether they are expected before treating a scheduled run as a pass.
Decide what the schedule should cover
- Browser coverage: choose Percy Web for visual testing on the newest browsers, or Percy with Automate when the test needs a broader browser, device, desktop, or mobile combination.
- Capture trigger: select automatic events, test-case completion, clicks, explicit screenshot calls, or manual checkpoints according to the listed capture modes.
- Page coverage: use full-page capture for long-page coverage or scoped snapshots when the target is a specific component.
- Responsive widths: define browser dimensions before capture, especially when comparing more than one width.
- Run ownership: make the existing test runner and CI scheduler responsible for recurrence; their configuration determines the actual timing and execution behavior.

Troubleshoot common scheduling and capture problems
- No recurring captures appear: Percy capture is part of test execution. Check that the recurring job in your test runner or CI scheduler actually launches the Percy-enabled suite.
- The screenshot has the wrong width: Automate captures at the current browser window size. Set or resize the viewport before the capture call, then check the relevant dimensions in the run configuration.
- The image captures an incomplete or irrelevant state: Use an explicit manual screenshot checkpoint after navigation and page setup, or select a capture mode suited to the intended point in the test.
- A long page is cut off: Use Percy with Automate’s full-page option when the full document is the required coverage.
- A visual diff includes unrelated page changes: Consider a scoped snapshot if the intended check is a particular component, while retaining whole-page checks where broader coverage is important.
