To schedule seasonal videos on a 24/7 YouTube livestream, handle two separate jobs: schedule the YouTube live event, then configure an encoder or streaming service to play the right files and change them when the season changes. YouTube’s scheduled event creates a page and accepts a live feed; it does not play or rotate prerecorded videos by itself.
What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do
A scheduled livestream is an upcoming YouTube event with a planned start time and a shareable watch page. To make it live, an encoder or compatible streaming service must send video and audio to that event using its stream URL and key. Seasonal playlist playback and timed file changes must be configured in that playback system, not in a YouTube watch-page playlist.
YouTube’s scheduling workflow does not document timed switching among prerecorded playlist items. Check that your chosen tool supports unattended playback, the specific date- or time-based changes you need, and recovery after interruptions. Features vary by product.

Check live-stream eligibility early
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to activate. Confirm eligibility and activation well before the seasonal launch rather than waiting until the event date.

Organize the files and schedule
Prepare the videos you have rights to stream, decide their order, and write down when each seasonal change should occur. In the encoder or service, build the playback playlist or timetable and check the time zone used for scheduled changes. YouTube does not provide the playlist scheduler for this workflow; its controls depend on the tool you select.
Schedule the YouTube event and connect the feed
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Choose Manage, then Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings, and enter the event details and planned start time. Scheduling makes an upcoming event page that viewers can share and use to set reminders.
- Copy the event’s stream URL and key. In the encoder or streaming service, enter the URL and key for this event. Treat the stream key as a credential: use the correct event’s key and do not publish it.
- Configure the media feed. Select the playlist or timetable in the playback tool, including the intended seasonal files and changeover times. Check that the selected files are available to that tool and that its schedule uses the intended time zone.
- Send a test feed and inspect it in YouTube. YouTube’s operational tips recommend preparing the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Confirm that the correct event receives the feed, review the preview, and check audio and video on the channel and watch page.
- Monitor the launch and changeover. Verify that the feed begins as expected and that the correct seasonal material plays at the boundary. Keep a person available to respond until you have verified the specific setup’s restart and recovery behavior.
Test the playlist before relying on it
Run a rehearsal with representative files and the same playback system you intend to use live. Include the transition across a season boundary rather than testing only the first item.

- Confirm playlist order, file availability, and whether the tool resumes the right item after a restart.
- Check that scheduled changes occur at the intended local time, including any time-zone or daylight-saving change that overlaps the schedule.
- Verify how the tool behaves if a file is missing, a transition fails, the internet connection drops, or YouTube interrupts the incoming feed.
- Check supported file formats, maximum stream duration, monitoring, and alerting in the selected tool’s current documentation.
- Watch the YouTube preview and public watch page during the test; a playlist configured in the tool is not proof that the intended event is receiving it.
Choose where the playback runs

Neither approach is inherently more reliable. Compare the actual scheduling controls, supported media, time-zone behavior, maximum duration, outage recovery, monitoring, and cost for the specific setup you plan to use.
A vendor-specific cloud example
OneStream Live’s help article, updated September 3, 2026, describes creating a 24-hour stream, adding videos from a device or cloud storage, connecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, and scheduling the broadcast. The article says the feature requires an Enterprise plan and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Those are vendor-stated terms, not a general capability of cloud services; verify the current plan and limits before relying on them.

Keep rights, copyright, and monetization in view
Clear rights for every item
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to represent that they have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruptions. Clear rights for every video, recording, music track, and other included work before scheduling it.
Understand monetization review
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and require original, authentic content. The policy renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” on July 15, 2025, and clarifies that repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Reused content is assessed separately from copyright. A seasonal schedule alone does not decide eligibility: the channel and its programming must offer substantive original value and comply with the applicable policies.

Plan separately for archives and continuous operation
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a promise that a continuous 24/7 stream will be fully archived, so arrange a separate replay or archive plan if preserving the entire broadcast matters. The YouTube Live Streaming API describes broadcasts and streams as separate resources and documents a 24/7 broadcast that can continue while video is not stopped; using the API is a technical path, not a no-code seasonal playlist scheduler.
