You can schedule a browser to capture a website, but avoiding a saved password does not make automated access to a bank account safe: browser state can retain cookies or headers that may act like a signed-in session. Before automating, check your bank’s official terms and ask its support team whether the intended access is allowed. If you need periodic account records, start with the bank’s statements, exports, or alerts.

Separate screenshot scheduling from bank authentication

A scheduled task can launch a browser script at chosen times, and browser automation can save a screenshot. Those capabilities do not establish that a particular Indian bank permits automated sign-in or will allow an unattended session.

Playwright supports viewport, element, and full-page screenshots, including saving an image to a file. That is a browser capability, not evidence of bank approval or reliable operation on a bank website. See Playwright’s screenshot documentation and authentication-state documentation.

Why “don’t save my password” is not enough

A browser may retain authenticated state even when you do not store a password. Playwright warns that saved browser state can contain sensitive cookies and headers that could be used to impersonate the account. Avoiding a password file therefore does not eliminate the risk of retaining access to a signed-in account.

Do not treat cookies as a safe substitute for a password, and do not put credentials or session data in scripts, source files, scheduler arguments, screenshots, logs, or a third-party hosted service. Keeping a state file out of source control is a basic safeguard, not proof that it is safe to retain for banking.

Check official alternatives and bank rules first

Use the bank’s own records if they meet your need

For periodic records or a view of account activity, check whether your bank provides statements, downloadable exports, or alerts. These official channels may meet the need without creating a scheduled automated login.

Confirm the specific bank’s policy

Read the bank’s official terms and ask its official support channel whether your intended access method is allowed. The available guidance does not establish whether any named Indian bank permits browser automation, supports unattended login, or will require an OTP, CAPTCHA, device registration, or another interactive check. Do not bypass authentication controls or assume that a script will run unattended.

What RBI guidance says about banking credentials

The Reserve Bank of India’s Financial Awareness Messages advises customers to use a bank’s verified URL, not store login credentials on a phone, and not enter them on untrusted portals or service providers. It says never to share an internet banking ID, password, or OTP. RBI’s digital banking safety guidance also advises against sharing passwords, PINs, OTPs, CVVs, or UPI PINs and recommends using verified, secure, trusted websites for online banking.

Test screenshot scheduling only with public or non-sensitive pages

If you want to understand the scheduling mechanics, use a public page or a test site containing no sensitive data—not a signed-in bank account. This example uses Playwright to visit a public page and save a full-page screenshot:

import { chromium } from 'playwright';

const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
const page = await browser.newPage();

try {
  await page.goto('https://example.com', { waitUntil: 'networkidle' });
  await page.screenshot({ path: 'public-page.png', fullPage: true });
} finally {
  await browser.close();
}

Install Playwright and its browser binaries using the commands in the official getting-started guide. To schedule a safe public-page test, configure your operating system’s scheduler to run the script at the desired times. The scheduler launches the capture; it does not grant permission to access a bank or resolve interactive authentication.

Keep any output controlled

A screenshot of a signed-in banking page could expose account identifiers, balances, transactions, or personal information. Restrict access to captured images and avoid sending them to unverified services. The sample above deliberately captures only a public page.

Troubleshooting a public-page capture

  • The script cannot find Playwright or its browser: follow Playwright’s official installation steps, including installing the browser binaries for your environment.
  • The page is still changing when the image is saved: a public test page may need a different wait condition or a deliberate delay. Do not use waits or retries to defeat a bank’s authentication checks.
  • The scheduled run works interactively but not on schedule: confirm the scheduler runs under the expected operating-system account and can access the script and output location. Do not pass banking credentials or session data as scheduler arguments.
  • A bank page requests an OTP, CAPTCHA, device approval, or another check: stop rather than attempting to bypass it. Ask the bank whether the intended access method is permitted.

Or skip the browser setup:

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. For ordinary public-page captures, one GET request can return an image or PDF. Its cleanup options remove cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses indicate the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers screenshot tools for AI agents. These points do not make it appropriate for signing into a bank: do not send bank credentials, session data, or private banking pages to a hosted screenshot service.

Example for a public page only; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a screenshot script need to save the bank password?

Not necessarily, but avoiding a saved password does not remove the risk of retaining authenticated cookies or headers. Do not treat saved browser state as harmless.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use automation if the bank asks for an OTP or CAPTCHA?

Do not bypass the check. Ask the bank through its official support channel whether your intended access method is allowed.

Will a scheduled bank screenshot work with every Indian bank?

That is not established. Bank policies and authentication requirements vary; confirm with the specific bank.
