YouTube does not schedule a playlist to broadcast continuously. To release UPSC lectures at set times, schedule each video in YouTube Studio and add it to your course playlist. To let an individual student repeat the course, they can turn on playlist looping during playback. For a continuous live watch page, you need a separate encoder-based livestream workflow that sends recorded lectures to YouTube.
Choose the outcome you mean by “always-on”

Schedule individual UPSC lectures to publish
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Upload videos.
- Upload a lecture, then add its title, description, thumbnail, and other details.
- In the upload workflow, add it to the relevant existing playlist or create a course playlist. Keep the playlist order consistent with the course sequence.
- In the Schedule card, set the publication date, time, and time zone, then schedule the video. It remains private until the scheduled time.
- Repeat for each lecture. After a video is due to go public, check its visibility and confirm it appears in the intended playlist.
YouTube Help describes scheduled publishing as scheduling a private video to go public at a specific time. A Community Guidelines strike can prevent a scheduled video from publishing during the penalty period; the video remains private and must be rescheduled afterward. YouTube’s scheduling guidance and upload instructions explain the respective workflows.
Check the date shown to viewers in India
YouTube lets you choose the schedule’s time zone, but the public watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time. For a schedule made in India, the date displayed publicly can differ from the date shown in Studio, especially around the day boundary. Double-check the public watch page for schedules near midnight India time rather than assuming its displayed date will match your local calendar date. YouTube’s scheduling help explains this date behavior.

Decide how often you can reliably prepare and publish lectures, then schedule a sustainable sequence. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable release schedule and planning around the channel’s capacity; it does not establish a UPSC-specific ideal frequency or guarantee that a particular cadence will improve exam outcomes or watch time. Let students loop the playlist during playback
For a repeatable study session, a student can open a lecture from the playlist and switch on Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube’s playback control repeats the playlist continuously. It is a viewer-side setting: it does not cause the playlist to play unattended for all students, schedule the lectures on your channel, or turn them into a live broadcast. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists.
Run recorded lectures as a continuous livestream
If students need a live watch page that stays on air, use an encoder-based livestream. Schedule the stream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the stream key, and feed it the recorded lecture material. YouTube documents scheduled streams, stream keys, and encoder workflows; it does not prescribe a particular third-party service or physical encoder for this UPSC use case. Protect your recordings and plan for long streams
Keep the original lecture files independently of the live broadcast. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; this is a possibility, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will archive successfully. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. Do not rely on one very long livestream as the only copy of a course or as a dependable archive. Keep the playlist and its contents accurate
Use a playlist title and description that accurately describe the lectures inside it. YouTube’s playlist policy prohibits misleading titles or descriptions and also applies to harmful combinations of videos. Review the YouTube Playlists policy.
