You can schedule a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, but Studio’s scheduling workflow does not itself play a prerecorded file as a live broadcast. For that, use an encoder or service that explicitly supports scheduled prerecorded playback to YouTube Live. For English and Hindi, plan the audio and captions separately: YouTube’s multi-language audio feature is documented for uploaded videos, while its automatic live captions are currently English-only for eligible channels.
Choose the right format first
There are two different ways to publish a recorded news programme on a schedule. A scheduled livestream creates an upcoming live event and watch page; a compatible encoder or third-party service sends the prerecorded programme as the live feed. Alternatively, you can publish an uploaded video with multiple audio tracks, where available, so viewers can choose English or Hindi on demand.
- Scheduled event with a live operator: Use YouTube Studio to schedule the event, then launch an encoder at airtime. This is suitable when the programme should be presented as a live event and someone can start and monitor the feed.
- Recorded programme played as live: Use an encoder or service that specifically supports scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live. Confirm it can schedule the file, deliver the required audio, and connect to your channel; not every encoder has this capability.
- One uploaded video with language choices: If your channel has access to YouTube multi-language audio, provide English and Hindi tracks on the uploaded video. This is an on-demand video workflow, not a way to add selectable audio tracks to a live broadcast.
These options are not interchangeable: an upcoming livestream page and reminders do not mean that Studio will automatically play a video file, and captions are not a second audio track.
Schedule the YouTube Live event in Studio
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, then open Manage.
- Select Schedule stream. Create a new stream or reuse settings from an existing stream.
- Enter the event title and description, choose privacy and audience settings, and set the date and time. Check the channel’s Live Control Room for any current access or eligibility requirements.
- Save the event and open its upcoming watch page. Share that URL with viewers; they can set a reminder if the event offers that option.
- At the scheduled time, connect your encoder if the programme is to be sent as a live feed. The event being scheduled does not, by itself, start playback of a prerecorded file.
For a prerecorded programme, first verify the encoder or service’s exact scheduled-playback workflow. YouTube’s encoder guidance refers to prerecorded-media scheduling as a capability offered by a third-party vendor; it does not establish that the feature is native to Studio or available in every encoder.

Send the recorded programme through an encoder
- In the encoder or compatible service, select the finished video and configure its playback schedule. Confirm that the service supports the file format, duration, audio tracks, and scheduled YouTube Live delivery you intend to use.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube using the server URL and stream key shown for the event in YouTube Live Control Room. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the event.
- Start the encoder at the planned time. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then check that the picture and sound are correct before selecting Go live where required.
- Monitor the live preview and stream health, and listen for the language track and audio levels viewers will receive. Check the watch page on a phone or another device as well as on the production computer.
- When the programme is finished, stop the stream in YouTube and stop the encoder or scheduled playback. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; check the resulting replay and captions before sharing it as a finished recording.
For a newsroom, test with representative movement and audio before the real broadcast. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but that is an optional production choice, not a requirement for scheduling a stream.
Make English and Hindi available to viewers
Separate scheduled broadcasts
If you have separately produced English and Hindi versions and each needs its own live event, schedule two broadcasts and make the language clear in each title and description. Each broadcast has its own watch page and audience experience; this is not a single stream with a viewer-selectable language track.

One uploaded video with multiple audio tracks
YouTube describes multi-language audio for uploaded videos and Shorts, subject to access to Advanced features. You must supply the dubbed English and Hindi tracks yourself or arrange dubbing. YouTube does not automatically translate a news programme into a second audio track, and the documented feature should not be assumed to add language selection to a live broadcast.

Captions are separate from audio
Automatic captions may be available for uploaded video in English and Hindi. For live broadcasts, automatic captions are currently English-only, limited to eligible channels, and require normal latency. Poor audio or overlapping speech and languages can reduce caption quality. Live captions do not remain on the replay; YouTube may generate new automatic captions for the archived video. Review machine-generated captions before relying on them for a news recording.

If viewers need live captions in Hindi, plan another supported caption workflow. YouTube describes embedded captions or software that sends captions to YouTube, and currently supports one live caption track. Do not assume automatic live captions will provide English and Hindi simultaneously.
Newsroom checks before airtime
- Rights: Confirm you have the rights to the recorded programme and to both the original audio and any separately recorded dub. A scheduled broadcast does not change the rights status of its material.
- Language and metadata: State which language is spoken in the event title or description. Verify the actual audio track; captions or translated metadata do not replace a Hindi or English dub.
- Preview and sound: Confirm the correct event is open, the intended programme appears in the preview, and speech is audible without clipping or competing audio.
- Viewer access: Test the upcoming watch page and live stream on mobile as well as desktop, especially if viewers will join from a shared link.
- Staffing and recovery: Assign someone to watch the live status and respond if the encoder disconnects or the wrong feed starts. Verify what the selected encoder does after an interruption rather than assuming it will resume correctly.
- Replay: After the broadcast, inspect the archive and check captions independently; the live caption track is not retained on the replay.
Common problems and fixes
The event is scheduled, but the video does not start
Scheduling in Studio creates the event page; it does not establish prerecorded playback. Start a compatible encoder yourself or configure a third-party service that explicitly supports scheduled prerecorded delivery, and check its current instructions.

The encoder is connected, but there is no usable preview
Check that you selected the correct event and used its server URL and stream key. Confirm the encoder is actually sending data, then wait for the preview and inspect stream health before going live.
Viewers hear only one language
A live stream should not be expected to gain selectable English and Hindi audio from YouTube’s uploaded-video multi-language audio feature. Use separate broadcasts or a workflow that explicitly supplies the intended live audio; verify the output in the preview and on the watch page.

Hindi live captions are missing
YouTube’s documented automatic live captions are currently English-only. Arrange a supported caption feed if Hindi live captions are required, and account for the current one-live-caption-track limit.
Captions are inaccurate or absent on the replay
Automatic captions can be affected by poor audio, overlapping speakers, and multiple languages. Live captions do not carry over to the archive, so review the recording and its newly generated captions after the event.
The replay is not available as expected
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. If the broadcast was longer, or the archive is missing or incomplete, check the event in Studio and the encoder’s recording and delivery status rather than assuming the replay was saved.
