To schedule prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube livestream, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, then use a cloud playout service to send your playlist to that event. Scheduling creates the upcoming watch page; it does not play or loop your videos. How scheduling and continuous playback fit together
A scheduled YouTube livestream and its video feed are separate parts of the setup. In YouTube Studio, scheduling creates an upcoming event that viewers can find and set reminders for. An encoder or cloud playout service must still send the video to YouTube. For prerecorded videos, that service needs to support uploading or selecting files, arranging them into a playlist or rotation, and sending a continuous feed.

Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The stated minimum age to livestream is 16. First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned start time. YouTube: Get started with live streaming

Confirm rights and duration
Use only video and audio you have the rights to stream on YouTube. A playlist that runs continuously does not make copyrighted material safe to use, and a prerecorded broadcast is not automatically eligible for monetization. YouTube monetization depends on channel eligibility, including participation in the YouTube Partner Program.
Plan separately for broadcasts longer than 12 hours. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a longer uninterrupted broadcast will produce one complete archive. Step-by-step: schedule the event and connect a cloud playlist
- Create the event in YouTube Studio. Open Create → Go Live → Manage, then choose Schedule Stream. Set the title, description, privacy, audience, and start time. Choose whether to reuse settings from another stream if appropriate. The scheduled event can appear as upcoming, allowing viewers to visit the watch page and opt into a start notification.
- Choose a cloud playout service. Confirm that its current documentation supports prerecorded uploads or selections, playlist ordering or looping, and a continuous feed to YouTube. StreamNeo is one option for looping uploaded videos from the cloud. YouTube’s encoder directory also lists Gyre and Upstream.so; verify their current capabilities and terms with the providers.
- Upload and arrange the videos. Add rights-cleared files to the service and set their order and repeat behavior. Controls differ by provider; YouTube’s scheduling tools do not manage the playlist. Check the playlist end behavior so the feed does not stop when it reaches the last file.
- Connect the service to the scheduled event. If the provider offers an authorized YouTube integration, follow its connection flow. Otherwise, copy the stream URL and stream key from the event’s Live Control Room and enter them in the provider’s output settings. A stream key authorizes sending video to your channel: keep it private and reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Start the cloud feed and validate it. Start playout early enough to check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and stream health before the scheduled time. Confirm video and audio, then open the public watch page on a separate device to verify what viewers receive. - Set event automation deliberately. YouTube offers auto-start and auto-stop options for supported encoder workflows. Check their state for the scheduled event and confirm that it matches the provider’s start and stop behavior; scheduling alone does not guarantee that the cloud playlist begins or ends as intended.
Video settings and delivery requirements
RTMPS is the usual starting point
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted extension of RTMP, for ingest. Its general encoder guidance specifies H.264, H.265, or AV1 video depending on the workflow; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate encoding; frame rates up to 60 fps; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Use the current YouTube resolution-and-bitrate recommendations and the cloud provider’s supported presets together rather than applying one bitrate to every resolution or frame rate. Use HLS only when its trade-offs fit
YouTube supports HLS ingest for certain codec and HDR workflows, but it has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. YouTube’s HLS requirements include TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT requests. Choose HLS only if your provider supports those requirements and the added latency is acceptable. YouTube: HLS ingest

Account for the network in the actual playout chain
For an encoder sending from a local network, YouTube recommends available upload bandwidth greater than the total stream bitrate and suggests 20% headroom. With cloud playout, the cloud provider’s network and its connection to YouTube are also dependencies. Test the full path; a successful upload into a service does not by itself prove that the YouTube feed is healthy.

YouTube’s directory identifies Gyre and Upstream.so as cloud options, but does not establish a vendor-by-vendor comparison of playlist controls, recovery, plan limits, reliability, or pricing. Confirm those details directly with each service.

- The scheduled page exists, but viewers see no video: Scheduling creates the event, not the feed. Start the cloud playout, check that it is sending to the correct event’s stream URL and key, and inspect Live Control Room preview.
- The provider cannot connect to YouTube: Recheck the stream URL and key for that event. If the key may have been copied incorrectly or exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the provider’s settings.
- The stream starts but playback is unstable: Inspect YouTube stream health and provider status. Verify the selected protocol and output settings, and for a local encoder check that upload capacity exceeds the total bitrate with the recommended headroom.
- The playlist stops unexpectedly: Check its end-of-list behavior, the event’s auto-stop setting, file availability, and the provider’s disconnect/recovery controls. Exact controls are provider-specific.
- The archive is incomplete or missing: Check the broadcast duration. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; use a separate recording or planned segmentation for longer runs.
- The stream is claimed, blocked, or unsuitable for monetization: Review rights for both video and audio, and resolve any YouTube copyright or policy notice. Continuous playback does not override rights or monetization eligibility rules.
