YouTube Studio can schedule a live event, but it cannot play a playlist continuously by itself. To run pre-recorded video as a 24/7 YouTube stream, schedule the event in Live Control Room and connect an encoder or cloud playout service that keeps sending video to YouTube. The process is the same for creators in India; the sources reviewed do not establish a special India-only setup or a fixed local upload-speed requirement.
What scheduling does—and what it does not do
A scheduled event creates a YouTube watch page in advance and lets viewers opt into reminders. It does not supply the video. At broadcast time, an encoder or cloud playout service must connect with your YouTube server URL and stream key and send the video continuously. YouTube describes this as a supported pattern for ongoing broadcasts, but that is not a guarantee that any particular setup will stay uninterrupted.
YouTube’s encoder guide puts the benefit plainly: “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Choose how to play the videos continuously
Pick a playout method before announcing a start time. The practical choice depends on whether you want to maintain a computer or appliance, how much playlist control you need, and how you plan to monitor and recover the stream.

| StreamNeo cloud playout | You want uploaded videos to loop on YouTube without keeping a computer on. StreamNeo is #1 for this use case: it runs continuously from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives the first day free. | It is a paid service after the free first day; check its current terms and whether its YouTube-only workflow fits your needs. |
| Software encoder on a local computer | You already have a computer and want to control a basic setup locally. | The computer, software, and network connection must remain available for the intended runtime. YouTube recognizes software encoders generally, but the cited guide does not prescribe a particular product for playlist automation. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | You prefer an appliance instead of a general-purpose computer. | It is optional specialist equipment, not a YouTube requirement. YouTube lists AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream feature for scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. Verify current model availability, local support, and fit before purchasing. |
| Other cloud playout providers | You want a provider to host and schedule the video output. | Features, plans, regions, and duration limits vary. YouTube’s verified encoder guide lists cloud options including Gyre and Upstream. OneStream’s guide describes its own 24-hour workflow as requiring Enterprise and limiting duration to 30 days; those are OneStream-specific terms, not YouTube-wide limits. |
Compare options on ongoing cost, computer requirements, playlist and repeat controls, supported formats and quality, monitoring and recovery, stream duration, and archive plans. Check each provider’s current terms and availability in India rather than assuming they are uniform.
Set up and schedule the YouTube event
- Enable live streaming early. Verify your channel and check Live Control Room for restrictions. YouTube says first-time live-streaming activation may take up to 24 hours. Its requirements include channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
- Prepare your playout method. Decide whether video will come from software on a computer you keep online, a hardware encoder, or a cloud service. Confirm that your chosen method can play the intended files and repeat or rotate them as needed.
- Schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Create a stream or reuse prior settings, then set the title, visibility, date, and other event details. Share the event page so viewers can opt into reminders.
- Connect the encoder. Configure your encoder with YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Keep the stream key private. Start the encoder and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. For a scheduled event, start the broadcast from Live Control Room at the appointed time.
- Test the complete path before promoting. Check file playback and audio, the encoder connection, preview, scheduled start, and the plan for ending or restarting the stream. This is prudent operational guidance because the broadcast depends on the encoder connecting and the preview appearing; it is not a guarantee against outages.
- Decide how to handle long runs. If an automatically archived video matters, plan an end or rotation before a stream passes 12 hours. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a single 24/7 event will produce an automatic archive.
- Clear rights for every item in the playlist. Use material you own or have cleared for YouTube live use. For licensed third-party content, ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel.
Settings and network planning
Use the server URL and stream key shown for the scheduled event in Live Control Room; do not substitute a key from a different event unless you have confirmed the encoder and event are configured to use it. Start the encoder and check the preview before going live. The sources reviewed here do not establish a specific bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or India-specific minimum upload speed, so avoid treating an unsupported numeric setting as a universal requirement.

India: what to check locally
The documented YouTube Studio and encoder workflow is general rather than India-specific. The sources reviewed do not establish a local scheduling exception, a validated India bandwidth threshold, provider availability matrix, or a local price comparison. Check your ISP’s upload stability and confirm that any third-party service is available and suitable where you are. StreamNeo accepts UPI and cards in India; card checkout is available worldwide.

Live copyright checks can interrupt playback
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the picture, interrupt, or terminate the stream; claims may also be applied after an archived livestream is complete. If you have licensed material, YouTube recommends asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Permission alone does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams as well as other formats. Its policy distinguishes “inauthentic content”—repetitive or mass-produced work—from reused content, which needs significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Permission from the original creator by itself does not make reused content eligible for monetization. See YouTube channel monetization policies.
Do not count on a 24-hour event for archived watch hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a longer continuous broadcast. YouTube’s August 12, 2026 explanation of qualified public watch hours says archived livestreams may count, while unarchived livestreams do not. A long-running stream should not be treated as a guaranteed source of archived video or qualified public watch hours.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting common setup failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The scheduled watch page exists, but no video appears. | Scheduling created the event, but no encoder or cloud playout is sending video. | Start the playout method, confirm it uses the event’s server URL and stream key, and wait for the Live Control Room preview. |
| The encoder connects, but the event does not start. | The scheduled broadcast still needs to be started in Live Control Room. | Confirm the preview is present, then start the scheduled event at its appointed time. |
| First-time live streaming is unavailable. | Activation may still be processing, or the channel may not meet a live-streaming requirement. | Allow up to 24 hours after first enabling the feature; check verification and any restriction in the preceding 90 days. |
| The picture is replaced or the broadcast is interrupted. | YouTube may have detected third-party material in the live stream. | Review the playlist’s rights. For licensed content, ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel; remove material you cannot clear. |
| A long stream has no automatic archive. | The event exceeded YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archiving threshold. | Plan a shorter broadcast or a rotation strategy if an archive is important; do not assume a continuous event beyond the threshold will be archived. |
