You can schedule the YouTube livestream event in YouTube Studio, but YouTube’s scheduling controls do not schedule the morning-to-evening playlist change. Set up the event in Studio, then configure timed playlist changes in the encoder or automation system you choose. Test the transition, reconnects, and archive behavior before promising viewers a continuous 24/7 channel.
What YouTube scheduling does—and what it does not do
A scheduled livestream creates an upcoming event and watch page. Viewers can share its URL and choose “Notify me” for a reminder. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover scheduling the event and connecting an encoder; they do not describe a native YouTube Studio control for automatically switching between morning and evening playlists. The timed media changes must be configured in the encoder or playlist automation system you select.
That distinction matters for a 24/7 channel: scheduling an event is not the same as scheduling its content, and the official guidance does not guarantee one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish on that page how a single 24-hour event will continue or be archived. Check the current Studio interface and test the event’s behavior before building your schedule around it. See YouTube’s encoder livestream instructions.

Check channel eligibility before setting up the event
YouTube Help says: “To live stream, you must have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and have a verified channel.” Verify the channel and confirm that it can livestream before scheduling. Feature access can depend on account status, and the interface may change, so check the current Live Control Room if a control is unavailable. YouTube’s reviewed guidance describes general setup rather than a separate India-specific procedure.

Schedule the YouTube livestream in Studio
- Open the scheduling flow. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create the event or reuse settings. Review the title, description, visibility, and other event details before scheduling. Confirm that the event’s intended audience can access it.
- Publish the schedule. The event can appear as upcoming, with a watch-page URL viewers can share. Viewers may select “Notify me” to get a reminder when it is due to start.
- Copy the encoder connection details. In the scheduled event, get the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. YouTube describes these as the connection details an encoder uses to send the feed. Treat the key like a password; if it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room.
- Connect the encoder when the event is due. Enter the URL and key in the selected encoder, start the encoder, and check the event preview before directing viewers to the live feed. YouTube’s guide recommends setting up the encoder in advance.

Configure the morning and evening playlist changes
Set the playlist timing in the encoder or automation tool—not in the YouTube event scheduler. The exact controls vary by product, and YouTube’s guidance does not verify timed switching in any particular third-party tool. Before relying on a system, confirm in its current documentation that it supports scheduled media changes and determine how it behaves if the encoder disconnects or restarts.

Build a test schedule with the actual morning and evening media, then observe the change at the intended transition time. Check that audio and video continue as expected, that the encoder reconnects correctly after a network interruption, and that the scheduled YouTube event remains accessible to viewers. Monitor the preview and the live output rather than assuming that a successful event schedule proves the playlist automation is working.
Test continuity, access, and the archive before announcing 24/7
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance, checking the preview, confirming access on the channel and watch page as well as on mobile, and monitoring audio and video quality. Apply those checks to both the start of the stream and the morning-to-evening transition. Also test the effects of a reconnect and determine what happens at the archive boundary; the under-12-hour archive statement is not a 24-hour continuity guarantee.

- Transition: Confirm the morning playlist ends and the evening playlist begins at the intended time, with no unexpected silence, black output, or overlap.
- Reconnect: Interrupt the encoder or connection in a controlled test and confirm how the selected system resumes the stream and playlist.
- Viewer access: Check the scheduled event and live output from the watch page, channel page, and a mobile device.
- Archive: Review the event’s resulting archive behavior in a test rather than assuming one 24-hour event will be preserved as a single video.
- Monitoring: Decide who will check stream health and respond if audio, video, or the connection fails.
Plan the schedule and playlist rights
YouTube advises creators to choose a consistent, sustainable schedule and tell viewers about changes. Its guidance says: “A consistent, sustainable release schedule is critical when building and fulfilling audience expectations and maintaining your well-being.” Share the expected morning and evening times on the event or channel and communicate changes clearly. Use Studio metrics to review stream health and performance, then consider whether the schedule’s frequency, content type, archive choices, and production costs make sense for your audience and revenue.
Confirm that you have the rights needed for every song, recording, and video in both playlists. Scheduling a stream does not establish that its content is cleared for live use. The available YouTube scheduling guidance does not determine whether a particular catalog is licensed, so check the rights for your actual media before broadcasting.

Choose an encoder or hosted approach carefully
A software encoder, hardware encoder, or hosted automation service may be part of a setup, but the relevant capabilities differ by product. Before committing, check whether it supports timed playlist changes, how it handles disconnects and reconnects, whether audio and video stay in sync, how much monitoring it requires, how it protects the stream key, what local or archive recovery it offers, and what recurring cost applies. YouTube describes encoder, mobile, and webcam routes and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events; a hardware encoder is optional for scheduling a YouTube stream.
