Schedule the event in YouTube Studio, connect OBS with that event’s stream URL and key, then start playback of your recorded Hindi podcast from OBS at the right time. Scheduling creates an upcoming YouTube watch page; it does not, by itself, start a file playing on your computer. You must arrange and monitor the encoder and media playback separately.
Before you schedule the rerun
Check that your channel can livestream. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and live streaming is limited to people aged 16 and older. Review YouTube’s current encoder livestream instructions if you are unsure whether the channel is eligible.
Have the final episode file ready, and confirm that you can play it on the computer running OBS. For a Hindi podcast, prioritize intelligible, continuous speech and stable audio routing; a high video resolution cannot compensate for interrupted or inaudible dialogue.

Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose Schedule stream. Create a new stream or select Reuse settings if the earlier event’s details are appropriate.
- Enter the episode’s title and description, choose visibility, add a thumbnail if desired, and set the start time. Check the time zone and date before saving.
- Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room. The upcoming watch page can help viewers find the event and choose Notify me. YouTube explains that scheduling lets you promote a stream; it is not a playback scheduler for the local episode file. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. Keep both private: YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” If the key is exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room; update OBS with the replacement key.
Connect OBS and prepare the podcast playback
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select the service/server configuration appropriate to the event and enter the event’s stream URL and stream key. The exact fields can vary with the selected OBS service configuration; use the URL and key from the scheduled YouTube event, not a key copied from an unrelated stream.
- Set up the prerecorded episode in the OBS playback arrangement you use. Confirm the video source is visible and the audio source reaches OBS’s stream mix. Play a section with speech and listen to the resulting audio; check that system audio, microphone monitoring, or other sources are not unintentionally doubling the episode.
- Choose an output format and settings supported by YouTube for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds). YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. Consult its current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution table rather than selecting a bitrate without considering resolution, frame rate, and available upload capacity.
- Use a wired, stable connection where practical, and check that sustained upload capacity can support the selected stream settings. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. For example, do not plan to use nearly all of a connection’s measured upload capacity for the stream.
Start the scheduled rerun and monitor it
- Set up and test the encoder in advance. YouTube recommends starting encoders at least 15 minutes before the event so there is time to check the preview and resolve problems.
- At the planned time, start the OBS stream and start the episode playback using your chosen playback controls or automation. A scheduled YouTube event alone does not trigger local media playback, and the official YouTube and OBS workflow described here does not establish a native recurring playback scheduler. If you use an external automation to start the file, verify its trigger and behavior in a test run.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before you start the public event. Confirm the picture, audible speech, and stream-health status. While live, keep an eye on stream health and the public watch page; do not assume a scheduled start means the source file or network is still running correctly.
- When the rerun is over, end the stream in the encoder/control workflow and check the event archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on this for a stream that reaches or exceeds that duration.
Troubleshoot common rerun failures
