To schedule different cartoon blocks in one continuous 24/7 YouTube livestream, set the timetable in the system that plays and sends your video—not in YouTube Studio. YouTube Studio schedules the broadcast event and its watch page; it does not play cartoon files or switch playlists at set times. Configure your playout system to change blocks while keeping one feed running, then connect that feed to a scheduled YouTube broadcast.
If each block needs its own watch page, title, and viewer reminder instead, schedule a separate YouTube broadcast for each one. Those are distinct events, not automatic handoffs within one continuous livestream.
Choose between one continuous stream and separate broadcasts
Start by deciding what viewers should experience. In Google’s Live Streaming API model, a broadcast is the YouTube event people watch, while a stream is the incoming audio-video feed. The two are related but not interchangeable: scheduling an event does not create or schedule the feed that carries your cartoons. Google’s API documentation, last updated September 14, 2026, describes a continuous 24/7 broadcast alongside a separate broadcast bound to the same stream: YouTube Live Streaming API.

|---|---|---|
| One continuous 24/7 broadcast | One watch page and one ongoing stream; cartoon blocks change within the outgoing feed. | A playout system to switch media on the timetable, plus one YouTube broadcast connected to its feed. |
| Separate scheduled broadcasts | A different event/watch page for each block or show, with its own title and potential reminder. | A YouTube broadcast for each event and a sender/feed connected to the appropriate event. |
YouTube says, “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” A scheduled event can appear to subscribers as upcoming with a “Notify me” option, and its URL can be shared. That promotion helps viewers find an event; it does not automate the programming inside a continuous feed. See YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream.

Plan the cartoon timetable before setting up YouTube
- Choose the format. Decide whether the channel will use one continuous watch page or separate events for individual blocks.
- Write the running order. Record each block’s name, start time, duration, file order, and any intended break. Include what should play if a file is missing or runs longer than expected.
- Choose the playout system. It must play the media and send a continuous feed to YouTube. For a fixed time-of-day schedule with several different block playlists, verify that the system supports those timed handoffs; basic playlist looping is not proof that it does.
- Plan for interruption. Decide how the sender will reconnect after a network or service interruption and how you will check the feed. A scheduled YouTube event does not guarantee that video will arrive at its scheduled start.
- Clear the content. Confirm rights for every cartoon, music track, graphic, and other element for the intended livestream before going on air.
Choose a way to play and send the blocks
OBS with local media
OBS can play local media sources, loop a media file, and use a VLC Video source to play a list in order or shuffle and loop the playlist. That is useful for continuous playback from a computer you can keep running. The OBS documentation describes playlist playback and looping, but it does not establish that OBS by itself schedules handoffs between several separately named playlists at specific times. If you choose OBS, verify the current version’s available automation or add a scheduling method that can reliably change the active content at each planned time. OBS’s media-source documentation is dated January 11, 2022: OBS Media Sources.
Dedicated hardware encoder
A dedicated encoder can send video without relying on a general-purpose computer for the stream workflow. YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream functionality for scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. That listing does not establish that it supports every timetable involving multiple separately scheduled cartoon blocks; check current device availability and the exact scheduling functions against your plan. See YouTube’s list of verified encoders.

Cloud playout
A cloud service can keep uploaded media playing and send a feed to YouTube without a home computer staying on. Confirm with the specific provider that it supports the required time-based handoffs among different block playlists, as well as the recovery behavior and account controls you need. Do not assume that a service that loops uploaded video can also run a multi-block timetable.
Separate YouTube events
If each block needs a distinct event page or reminder, schedule each as its own broadcast in YouTube Studio. Connect the appropriate feed when that event is due. This creates separate events; it is not the same as switching blocks inside one continuous stream.

Schedule the YouTube broadcast and connect its feed
The YouTube Studio labels below follow YouTube Help’s scheduling and encoder instructions, accessed October 3, 2026. YouTube may change its interface, so check the current Live Control Room if a label differs.
- Open the scheduler. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create the event. Choose a new broadcast or reuse settings from an earlier stream. Review the title, description, visibility, and other event details. Reused settings can include metadata, stream settings, and the stream key, so check them rather than assuming they match this event.
- Set the event time. For one continuous channel feed, schedule the broadcast according to the channel’s planned start. For distinct cartoon events, create a separate scheduled broadcast for each block that needs its own event page.
- Configure the sender. In the encoder or sending system, enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with untrusted people, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Start the feed and check the preview. Start the encoder or sender and wait for the video and audio preview in Live Control Room. For YouTube’s scheduled workflow, click Go live in Live Control Room when ready.
- Verify the actual handoff. Watch the stream through at least one transition between blocks. Confirm the expected file, audio, and timing arrive on the same feed and that the stream remains connected.
YouTube’s encoder setup and stream settings guidance is available at Set up your encoder for live streaming and Manage your live stream settings.

Test the full schedule before relying on it
- Use a private or unlisted test when available. Confirm the intended visibility before testing so the test does not unexpectedly reach a public audience.
- Check the first frame and sound. Verify that the scheduled feed begins with the correct cartoon and that audio is present and at the expected level.
- Test a block transition. Check the change at the planned time, including whether the outgoing content ends cleanly and the next block starts as intended.
- Test recovery deliberately. Simulate or observe sender loss and reconnection. Confirm what viewers see and how the playout system resumes; do not assume YouTube scheduling repairs a missing feed.
- Check start behavior. Test auto-start or auto-stop settings against your operating plan. Those settings do not create the video signal or guarantee that the sender starts at the scheduled minute.
- Check the archive expectation. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on a continuous 24/7 session being archived indefinitely or remaining uninterrupted; plan recording and archive needs separately. See YouTube Help: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Technical access to a stream key does not grant rights to broadcast the cartoons. Clear the episodes, music, artwork, and any other material for the specific livestream use. YouTube’s rights-management tools do not transfer responsibility for the content to YouTube. Troubleshoot common scheduling failures
| What happens | Likely reason | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The watch page is scheduled, but no cartoon appears. | The event exists, but no sender is delivering a feed. | Start the encoder or cloud sender, confirm its stream URL and key, and wait for the Live Control Room preview. |
| The next block does not start on time. | The playout setup may only loop a file or playlist, not switch between distinct playlists on a timetable. | Verify timed handoff support in the actual system and test the transition before the broadcast. |
| The stream works in a test but not at the event start. | The sender may not have started, may be using the wrong event’s settings, or may not be connected to the scheduled event. | Check the selected event, stream URL and key, sender status, preview, and whether you still need to click “Go live.” |
| The feed disappears after an interruption. | The sender or playout service may not reconnect or resume automatically. | Test reconnection behavior in advance and confirm the sender resumes the intended block and feed. |
| The broadcast is claimed or interrupted over content rights. | A cartoon, soundtrack, or other included material may not be cleared for livestreaming. | Review rights for each element and resolve permissions with the relevant rights holders before retransmitting. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo runs uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Its stated features include automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream and one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps. A slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, and 24/7 looping and playlists. The first day is free with no card. StreamNeo’s published setup is for uploaded-video playback to YouTube; it does not establish timed handoffs among different cartoon-block playlists, so confirm that requirement before choosing it for a fixed multi-block timetable.
