Schedule the upcoming broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, set its date and intended airtime, then check the event’s displayed time before relying on it. India Standard Time (IST) is UTC+05:30. If you schedule with YouTube’s API, convert the intended IST time to a future UTC timestamp in ISO 8601 format. Scheduling creates the event; it does not connect your encoder or confirm that your program’s audio is reaching YouTube.
Schedule the program in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create and then Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Choose the encoder-based live stream workflow and select the option to schedule a stream for later.
- Enter the program title and description, choose visibility, and set the date and intended airtime.
- Review the date and time shown on the created event before confirming or promoting it. YouTube’s documentation does not fully specify how every current Studio interface localizes time entry, so rely on the time displayed in your scheduling screen.
- Configure the encoder and stream settings separately. Near airtime, follow Live Control Room’s instructions to connect the encoder, check the preview, and start the stream. A scheduled event alone does not mean the encoder is connected or the program is live.
A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as an upcoming event, where viewers can select “Notify me.” YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream.
Convert IST to UTC for YouTube’s API
IST is UTC+05:30, according to the Press Information Bureau, Government of India. For the API’s scheduled start time, subtract five hours and 30 minutes from the intended IST airtime and express the resulting instant in ISO 8601 format, commonly with a trailing Z for UTC. Check whether the conversion moves the event to the previous date.

For example, if a radio program is scheduled for 02:00 IST on 12 November, the API timestamp is on 11 November in UTC. Include the correct year in the timestamp you submit.

Schedule broadcasts through the YouTube API
Google describes a liveBroadcast as “an event that will be streamed, using live video, on YouTube.” It is the scheduled viewing event; a liveStream represents the audio-video content delivered to YouTube. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveBroadcasts.
- Create a
liveBroadcastwith a title,snippet.scheduledStartTimeset to a future ISO 8601 datetime, andstatus.privacyStatus. The API requires the scheduled start time to be in the future. See liveBroadcasts.insert. - Create or select a
liveStreamand configure your encoder using that stream’s settings. See YouTube Live Streaming API: liveStreams. - Bind the broadcast event to the stream, then connect the encoder and verify the incoming preview in Live Control Room. See YouTube Live Streaming API implementation guide.
API scheduling suits creators automating event creation; Studio is the direct workflow for scheduling manually. Either way, creating an event and delivering a live signal are distinct steps.

Plan repeat radio programs
Create a separate scheduled broadcast for each episode or airtime. For the stream settings, choose the approach that fits the program:

Clear music and recording rights separately
A radio station’s existing licence should not be assumed to cover a YouTube simulcast. India’s Copyright Act addresses broadcasting, communication to the public, broadcast reproduction rights, and performers’ rights, but those provisions alone do not determine whether a particular station has permission for a particular YouTube program. Before streaming, check permissions for the musical works, sound recordings, performances, agreements, and territories involved. See the Copyright Office’s statutory text; obtain case-specific advice where needed.
Scheduled livestream versus scheduled video
Scheduling an upcoming live event is not the same as scheduling an uploaded video to publish. YouTube’s scheduled publishing workflow sets an uploaded private video to publish at a chosen time and time zone; YouTube says the watch-page publication date is based on Pacific Standard Time. For a radio program intended to appear as an upcoming live event, use Live Control Room’s live-stream scheduling workflow instead. See YouTube Help: Schedule video publish time.
