You can schedule a YouTube livestream event in YouTube Studio, but Studio does not itself turn a playlist of uploaded videos into a continuous live feed. Schedule the event in Live Control Room, then use an encoder or playout system to send and loop your prerecorded videos. The event schedule and the playlist playback are separate parts of the setup.
What you need to schedule a 24/7 ambient livestream
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; check Live Control Room for current eligibility before planning a launch. YouTube livestreaming guidance.
- Ambient video and audio files that you have the rights to transmit live and, if applicable, retain in a replay.
- An encoder running on a computer or hardware device, or a cloud playout service, that can send a continuous feed and loop the selected files unattended.
- The YouTube stream URL and stream key for the event. Keep the key private: it is the credential that directs the encoder feed to your channel.
A local encoder gives you direct control but depends on the computer, power, internet connection, and ongoing maintenance. Cloud playout moves those operational dependencies to a service provider. Looping controls, reconnect behavior, monitoring, recording, and pricing vary, so verify them with the system you choose.
Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live.
- Open Manage, choose Schedule stream, and either reuse settings or create a new event.
- Enter the event title and description, choose its privacy setting, and set the schedule. A scheduled event creates an upcoming watch page where viewers can see the stream time and set reminders.
- Open the event’s stream settings and copy the server URL and stream key. Store the key securely; do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to send a feed to your channel.
YouTube’s documentation also describes an optional scheduled-stream trailer feature for creators with more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. That eligibility condition applies to the trailer feature, not to scheduling a livestream itself. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance for current details.

Connect an encoder and configure the playlist loop
Connect the outgoing feed
- In your encoder or playout system, paste the YouTube server URL into its server or ingest-server field and the stream key into its stream-key field.
- Select the video or playlist you want to broadcast. Configure playback to repeat continuously, and choose the order and transitions you want. These controls belong to the encoder or playout system, not to YouTube’s event scheduler.
- Start the encoder or playout session. Check the incoming preview and status in Live Control Room, then start the event or go live as the workflow requires.
- Open the public or unlisted watch page from a separate device or browser session. Confirm that video and audio are present and that the page is reachable as expected.
YouTube explains the encoder connection in its guide, Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Its scheduling instructions cover the event and encoder connection; they do not describe a native Studio option that converts a YouTube video playlist into a continuous outgoing live feed. Confirm that your chosen encoder or playout service supports looping and unattended operation rather than assuming those behaviors.

Check the feed before leaving it unattended
- Run a rehearsal before the scheduled launch. Confirm the playlist advances and returns to its beginning without stopping the outgoing feed.
- Check the audio level, video framing, and stream status in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder ahead of time, previewing the stream, checking viewer access, and monitoring audio and video quality; see its live encoder setup guidance.
- Test what happens if the encoder or network connection drops. Recovery behavior is determined by your encoder or playout system; do not assume it will reconnect automatically.
- For the rehearsal, use private or unlisted visibility where appropriate, and ensure your settings do not expose a test feed to the audience you intend to reach later.
Plan for archives, copyright, and monetization
A 24/7 stream is not a complete automatic replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 broadcast is longer than that stated condition, so do not promise viewers a complete automatic replay. If you need archives, consider shorter scheduled sessions or a separate recording workflow, and verify current YouTube behavior before launch. Clear rights for live transmission and replays
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream or lead to interruption or termination. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption: YouTube warns that licensed content can still be affected if the channel is not on the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Obtain permission that covers livestream transmission and any replay or archive, and confirm allowlisting with the rights owner when required. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

Treat live revenue as conditional
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live revenue features for eligible creators. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve, so stream duration alone cannot establish expected revenue. Check YouTube’s live monetization guidance for eligibility and feature conditions.

There are two broad ways to keep the feed running. A local encoder runs on a computer or hardware device you control; cloud playout runs the playlist from a provider’s infrastructure. No specific provider’s present features or prices are established here, so compare the requirements directly before committing.

An existing computer or a dedicated hardware encoder may work; YouTube does not require a mini PC. If shopping for an always-on device, compare encoding capability, power use, network reliability, and its ability to operate unattended rather than choosing by form factor alone.
