Schedule the tour in YouTube Studio, verify the time shown in Live Control Room, and publish the timezone next to the event link. YouTube’s current Live scheduling instructions do not specify the timezone basis of the time field, so do not assume it converts automatically for overseas viewers. Share the scheduled watch page so guests can set a reminder, then connect and test your encoder before the event.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open the Manage tab in Live Control Room and select Schedule stream. You can reuse settings or create a new stream; enter the event details and visibility, then save. YouTube’s Live streaming instructions describe this workflow.
- Check the scheduled time displayed in the current Live Control Room before announcing it. The reviewed YouTube Live instructions do not say whether the Studio time field uses your local timezone or provide a timezone selector. The Live API’s
snippet.scheduledStartTimeis an ISO 8601 datetime, but that does not establish how Studio interprets or displays its scheduling field. See the YouTube Live API documentation. - Copy the scheduled stream’s watch-page URL. Share that single link in the property listing, invitations, email, and social posts. Viewers can open the upcoming event and choose Notify me for a reminder.
Make the time clear across regions
Choose an anchor time that works for the host and the property’s most important audience. State the timezone explicitly everywhere you promote the tour, and include converted times for the regions you care about. For example, write “10:00 a.m. Eastern Time / 2:00 p.m. UTC” only after checking the conversion for the event’s actual date. Seasonal clock changes can shift the difference between regions.

Do not use YouTube’s scheduled-video publishing instructions to infer how a scheduled Live works. The separate scheduled-video workflow explicitly asks for a date, time, and timezone and says that a public video’s watch-page publication date is based on Pacific Standard Time; those directions apply to scheduled uploads, not scheduled Live broadcasts. See YouTube’s scheduled-video instructions.

Ecamm’s support page says its workflow schedules using the Mac’s timezone and that YouTube announcement posts aim to show viewers their local time. That is guidance about Ecamm’s workflow, not definitive documentation of the current Studio scheduling form.

Prepare and start the property tour
Plan the route and choose a format
Decide the room order, the features to explain, where to pause for questions, and how to move between spaces before going live. YouTube recommends planning content to limit unwanted pauses. Its filming tips also suggest a tripod, selfie stick, or similar accessory to steady moving footage, and note that a microphone can improve audio. Both are optional: use equipment you already have if it gives you a stable picture and intelligible narration.
For a straightforward walk-through, mobile streaming offers mobility; a webcam is computer-based; an encoder can suit a production with more control or hardware inputs. YouTube describes these options in its streaming setup guidance and recommends professional-grade encoders for higher-production-value events. Choose the arrangement you can operate reliably while moving through the property.
Check framing if serving vertical and horizontal viewers
YouTube describes dual-format streaming in Live Control Room, with a center-cropped vertical stream by default and options such as fit-to-phone-width or stacked layouts. A wide horizontal view usually shows more of a room, so preview the vertical crop before relying on dual format. YouTube says the vertical layout cannot be added after a stream has started; review the current options in its format guidance before scheduling your production around them.

Test, connect, and go live
- Run an unlisted test to check camera framing, lighting, sound, internet connection, and movement between rooms. YouTube explicitly recommends testing audio, video, and equipment with an unlisted stream in its filming tips.
- Set up the encoder at least two hours before the event and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start, as YouTube advises in its encoder streaming guidance.
- At the event, connect the encoder to the scheduled stream, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and check that the video and audio are correct before selecting Go live.
- Monitor the picture and sound during the walk-through. At the end, end the stream in Live Control Room and stop sending from the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; see its Live streaming help.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a property tour that needs to keep looping on YouTube after the live event, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It plays your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video, not a live camera tour; for a live walkthrough, use the encoder workflow above.
