To schedule a YouTube Live rotation of prerecorded devotional videos, create a scheduled event in YouTube Studio and use an encoder such as OBS Studio to play an authorized playlist into it. Scheduling creates the event and its watch page; it does not turn an ordinary YouTube playlist into a live broadcast. Check the festival date and audience time zone, confirm your channel can stream live, and make sure you have permission to broadcast every video and audio recording.

What you need before scheduling

  • A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s getting-started guidance says streamers must be at least 16. Review the current live-streaming requirements; requirements can vary by broadcast method.
  • An encoder for the prerecorded rotation. This walkthrough uses OBS Studio and its VLC Video source, which can play a playlist of local media files.
  • Video and audio files you are authorized to livestream. Permission to use a devotional song or video is not established simply because it is religious, publicly available, or already online.
  • A confirmed observance date and start time for the intended audience. India has regional and community-specific observances, so verify the particular festival and year rather than assuming one date applies everywhere.

YouTube supports several live methods, including mobile, webcam, encoder, and console. A mobile or webcam broadcast is a natural fit for live camera presentation; an encoder is better suited to a deliberate sequence of prerecorded local files and overlays. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.

Prepare the devotional video rotation in OBS

Install VLC and add the playlist

  1. Install OBS Studio and VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. If you are using 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC so the source can appear.
  2. Open OBS and select the scene that will carry the broadcast. In the Sources box, select the add (+) button and choose VLC Video Source. If the option is missing, check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS.
  3. Create or select the VLC source, then add the video files to its media playlist in the order you want them to play. Use clear filenames and verify the order; OBS plays the files you configure, not a YouTube playlist page.
  4. Enable Loop Playlist if the sequence should restart after the final file. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a curated festival sequence; turn it on only if random order is intended. OBS documents these controls in its Media Sources guide (published 2022-01-11).

Check the scene and playback

Preview the scene in OBS and confirm that the videos appear in the expected order, the picture fits the canvas, and the audio is audible and at a suitable level. Check what happens at the end of the final file: looping should return to the first item only when Loop Playlist is enabled. Run a short test of the complete encoder-to-YouTube chain before relying on it for an extended event. OBS’s source overview explains how sources contribute media to a scene: OBS Sources Guide.

Long broadcasts depend on your equipment, power, and internet connection. The available guidance does not establish a particular computer specification, required upload capacity, or backup-stream arrangement for your setup, so verify those conditions on your own equipment rather than assuming a test guarantees uninterrupted playback.

Create and schedule the YouTube Live event

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a live event. YouTube’s live stream settings guide covers event setup and stream settings.
  2. Enter a clear title and description. State that the program is a prerecorded devotional-video rotation, identify the intended festival or observance, and include the start time and time zone so viewers outside your immediate region can interpret it correctly.
  3. Set the event’s date and time only after checking the relevant observance for the intended audience and year. YouTube advises creators to consider local or global holidays when planning a publishing schedule and to communicate schedule changes; see its live upload schedule tips.
  4. Configure the stream settings and connect OBS using the stream key and server information presented for the event. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. If you reuse settings from another event, check the copied title, description, schedule, and stream key before going live.
  5. Save or schedule the event, then confirm it appears correctly in YouTube Studio. A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming, and viewers can choose Notify me. Scheduling does not guarantee that every subscriber will receive a notification.
  6. At the scheduled time, start the OBS playlist and verify in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the intended picture and sound before you rely on the event page for viewers.

Protect the broadcast and account

Check rights for each recording

YouTube requires live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Those rules do not determine whether a particular bhajan, kirtan, Gurbani recording, temple video, or film excerpt is cleared for livestreaming or archiving. Check rights for each asset, including the sound recording and underlying music where applicable, before putting it in the playlist. YouTube’s live setup guidance is available at Get started with live streaming.

Keep the event details accurate

Use an event description that matches the actual program. If the start time or rotation changes, update the event and communicate the change to viewers. A scheduled event page is useful for advance notice, but it cannot compensate for an incorrect festival date, unclear time zone, or unlicensed material.

Choose how the broadcast should end

If you want viewers to move to another live stream or a Premiere after this event, YouTube’s Live Redirect is a separate feature from rotating files inside the current stream. YouTube currently documents eligibility for creators sending a redirect as more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Check the current Live Redirect requirements and setup before planning around it.

Troubleshooting the rotation

Problem Likely cause What to check
VLC Video Source is unavailable in OBS VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. Install VLC; for 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS and check the Sources add menu.
The videos play in an unexpected order The media list is arranged differently than intended or Shuffle Playlist is enabled. Review the playlist order in the VLC source and disable Shuffle Playlist for a fixed sequence.
The rotation stops at the last video Loop Playlist is disabled. Enable Loop Playlist if the program should restart from its first file.
The scheduled event is visible, but no program appears The event has been scheduled, but OBS has not begun sending the playlist or is not connected to the event’s stream settings. Start the OBS output, verify its stream key and settings against the event, and check Live Control Room for incoming video.
Viewers cannot tell when the program starts The description omits the time zone, or the festival date and event time were not verified for the intended audience. Confirm the observance and year, state the time zone in the title or description, and update the event if the schedule changes.
A video or song triggers a rights concern Religious subject matter does not itself establish permission for the particular recording or composition. Remove or replace the asset unless you have verified the necessary broadcast rights for both the recording and underlying work.
