To run a prerecorded playlist as a YouTube live stream on an Indian public holiday, schedule two things: the live event in YouTube Studio and the video feed in a separate encoder or cloud playout service. Scheduling an event alone does not make a normal YouTube playlist play continuously. First choose the holiday calendar relevant to your audience, then test the entire setup privately before the date.
What you need to schedule
A 24/7 holiday broadcast has two independent parts:
- The YouTube live event: its title, visibility, start time and viewer-facing watch page.
- The playout feed: an encoder or cloud service sends your prerecorded videos to YouTube using your channel’s stream key. It controls the playlist order, looping and when the feed stops.
Both schedules must agree on the intended start time and time zone. Check the playout service’s scheduler, loop or end behavior, and end date rather than assuming YouTube will repeat a playlist for you.

Confirm live-stream access early
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person live streaming must be at least 16. First-time live access can take up to 24 hours to activate, so enable it well before the holiday. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Check rights and playlist behavior
- Use video and audio you own or are authorized to stream. A holiday theme does not make music, recordings or other material copyright-free.
- Arrange clips in the intended order and decide whether the list should loop, run for a fixed duration, or stop at a specified end time.
- Check that the chosen playout tool supports your intended run length and that its time zone matches the YouTube event.
Choose the calendar that governs your audience
“Public holiday in India” does not point to one universal closure calendar. The National Portal of India holiday calendar distinguishes central and state/UT calendars; its central holidays follow a Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions circular. India Post also publishes an all-India list and separate postal-circle choices. An institution, such as the Supreme Court, may have its own calendar. Select the calendar that fits your viewers or organization, and verify the year and date before scheduling.
For example, India Post’s 2026 all-India listing gives Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi) as 20 October and Diwali (Deepavali) as 8 November. The Supreme Court of India’s 2026 calendar instead lists Dussehra holidays from 19–24 October and Diwali holidays from 9–14 November. These are different calendar scopes, not interchangeable dates for a single national holiday list. Other India Post 2026 examples include Republic Day on 26 January, Independence Day on 15 August, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday on 2 October and Guru Nanak’s Birthday on 24 November. Recheck the appropriate official calendar for the year you are planning.

Schedule and test the YouTube broadcast
- Choose a playout method. YouTube recognizes encoder-based streaming; the encoder can be software, hardware or a cloud playout service. YouTube says, “For higher production value events, we recommend professional-grade hardware encoders.” That is a recommendation for higher-production events, not a requirement for every stream. - Create the event in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, then configure or schedule the live event in the Live Control Room. Set its title, visibility and planned start time. Choose public, unlisted or private according to who should be able to watch; a private test is useful before the public holiday event.
- Connect the feed. In the Live Control Room, use the stream details shown for the event to connect your encoder or playout service. Treat the stream key as a password: enter it only in the chosen encoder or service and do not share it publicly. Keep the event and the playout schedule aligned to the same intended date, time and time zone.
- Build the playout schedule. Add the prerecorded videos in the required order. Set the loop, duration and stop/end behavior explicitly in the playout tool. Where the tool offers a start-later option, confirm the displayed time zone and planned start. YouTube event scheduling does not set these playlist behaviors.
- Run a private end-to-end test. Start the feed and confirm that it appears in the Live Control Room preview. Check picture, sound, playlist order and whether the loop or stop behavior works as intended. Open the event from a viewer device to check access and playback. Google’s Live Streaming Guide recommends testing the complete setup privately and describes scheduling an event and publishing an archive. Make the event public or unlisted only when the intended audience and access are correct.
- Monitor the live stream. Watch the preview and check audio and video when the broadcast begins. Decide in advance who can respond if the feed or connection stops. YouTube’s computer streaming guidance recommends testing and continuously monitoring the stream.
Ways to keep the prerecorded feed running
Local software or hardware encoder
A computer-based encoder can send your playlist to YouTube, but the computer, encoder and internet connection must remain available for the duration you need. Hardware is optional; YouTube’s hardware-encoder recommendation is specifically for higher-production-value events. Confirm that your chosen encoder can play the files in order and repeat or stop them as scheduled.

A cloud service can play uploaded videos without relying on a home computer staying on. Features and plan limits differ by provider, so check the current terms, maximum run length, YouTube support and playlist controls before committing. OneStream Live’s help page, last updated 3 September 2026, documents a 24/7 prerecorded workflow for YouTube only; it says the feature requires Enterprise and allows a maximum of 30 days per setup. Those are OneStream’s stated terms, not a guarantee that a particular account qualifies. Its documented flow is to add prerecorded videos, connect the YouTube channel, enter stream details, schedule for now or later, and set a duration. Troubleshooting before the holiday
- The event is scheduled, but no video appears: the event and feed are separate. Start or schedule the encoder/cloud playout, check its stream-key connection, and confirm the Live Control Room preview receives the feed.
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for restrictions in the prior 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours and enable it before the holiday.
- The broadcast starts at the wrong time: compare the YouTube event time with the playout scheduler’s time zone and start time. Correct the schedule in each system and repeat the private test.
- The playlist stops or does not repeat: inspect the playout tool’s loop, duration and end-date settings. Do not expect the YouTube event itself to loop prerecorded media.
- The preview works but viewers cannot watch: confirm the event visibility setting and test access from a viewer device. A private event is visible only to invited viewers; use the appropriate public or unlisted setting for the intended audience.
- Audio or video is missing or wrong: check the source files and encoder output in the Live Control Room preview, then test again from a viewer device before the scheduled start.
- A cloud service will not accept the planned run: check the provider’s current plan requirement and maximum duration. For OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature, the help page states Enterprise and a 30-day maximum per setup.
After the stream
Decide whether the recording should remain available as a replay. Google’s live-stream guide describes publishing an archive and creating a live archive playlist. Review the event’s archive and visibility settings, then organize the replay for viewers who missed the holiday broadcast.
