Schedule the stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, choose a start time in Indian Standard Time (IST), and test candidate times against your own channel’s audience. There is no reliable evidence of one work or commute hour that is best for all Indian viewers. A scheduled event gives people a watch page to share and lets them opt in to a reminder; it does not, by itself, keep a playlist broadcasting continuously for 24 hours.
Choose a start time based on your viewers, not a national rule
First decide what the stream is for: morning preparation, listening during a commute, background audio at work, or evening viewing. Treat each as a hypothesis about your audience—not proof that a particular hour is best. No authoritative India-wide commute window or YouTube-published optimum was established for this topic.
Publish the time in IST (UTC+5:30) and use the same time in the event title or description, community post, and any external promotion. Then compare candidate start times using your own channel’s audience data. Keep the content, title, promotion, and stream length as similar as practical so those differences do not obscure the timing comparison.

- Choose a small number of candidate IST start times that fit the stream’s intended use.
- Run comparable streams or schedule blocks at those times, keeping promotion and content as consistent as possible.
- Use the same observation period for each candidate and compare the response in your channel analytics.
- Repeat or extend the comparison before treating a difference as meaningful; do not generalize one channel’s result to all Indian viewers.
The available guidance does not establish exact YouTube Analytics labels for measuring audience activity, so use the measures available in your account rather than relying on a promised metric name.

Check that the channel can go live
Before you announce an event, confirm the channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says a streamer must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for current requirements.
Schedule an encoder-based stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Choose whether to reuse prior stream settings or create a new event. Set its date and start time, and state the time zone clearly as IST in the event information.
- In the encoder, enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key shown for the event. Treat the key like a password: it lets an encoder send a feed to your channel. Do not share it publicly.
- Configure the prerecorded playlist or continuous feed in the encoder. Check the Live Control Room preview to make sure the intended video and audio are arriving.
- When the preview is ready and the event is due to begin, start the encoder feed and select Go live in the Live Control Room if prompted. Follow the current on-screen launch flow.
- Open the event’s watch page and share its URL. Scheduled streams may appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds, and viewers can select Notify me if they want a reminder.
YouTube’s interface can change; its encoder setup guidance is the reference for the current event workflow. YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream, not as a guarantee of unattended, continuous broadcasting.

A scheduled event is not the same as a continuous 24/7 stream
A schedule creates an upcoming event with a planned start. Keeping a playlist live around the clock also requires the feed to remain active and to recover when the encoder, connection, or YouTube session stops. Test restart and reconnect behavior, and decide who or what will monitor the broadcast before relying on it unattended.
Pay particular attention to archives and rewind. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single continuous 24/7 broadcast exceeds that duration; do not promise viewers a complete day-long archive. YouTube also warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for very long streams. Keep the playlist and rights suitable for a live broadcast
Only include video and audio you have the rights or permission to stream. A playlist being prerecorded does not make copyrighted material safe to rebroadcast. Review YouTube’s current policies and the permissions for each item before scheduling; a live broadcast can be interrupted or restricted if rights are not cleared. For a practical review, use the copyright safety checklist.
Also make the event information accurate: describe what viewers will hear or see, and do not imply that the stream is live camera footage if it is a loop of uploaded recordings. Scheduling and continuous playback do not guarantee monetization or exemption from YouTube’s channel and content policies.

Choose an encoder approach for the amount of continuity you need
YouTube’s verified encoder listing includes tools for different needs, including OBS Studio and cloud-based Gyre. YouTube describes OBS Studio as open-source software and Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos. It also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive. YouTube says verified encoders are not made by YouTube; listing is not an endorsement or proof of availability in your region.
