For a continuous Hindi podcast rotation, add the episode files to an OBS VLC Video source in the order you want them to play. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed sequence, and enable Loop Playlist only if you want the rotation to restart after its last episode. Schedule the YouTube broadcast separately in YouTube Studio: OBS controls local playback, while YouTube schedules the public live event.

Know what “schedule a rotation” means

An ordered playlist plays one episode after another as each file ends. That is different from having episode 1 start at 9 a.m. and episode 2 at 10 a.m. OBS documents playlist order, shuffle, and loop for a VLC source, but those controls do not set a wall-clock start time for each file. YouTube’s scheduled stream schedules the broadcast event, not the sequence or start time of individual local files. OBS Media Sources · YouTube’s encoder setup guide

If your episodes should run back-to-back, the VLC playlist is the straightforward approach. If each episode must begin at a specific time, you will need a separate, currently verified automation method or playback scheduler; see the OBS community discussion about scheduled media playback as a question, not as a verified plugin guide. Test any automation privately before relying on it for a published schedule.

Prepare OBS and your episode files

  1. Install OBS Studio and VLC. The VLC Video source depends on VLC being installed. If you use 64-bit OBS, OBS says to install 64-bit VLC. If the VLC source is missing, check this installation first. See OBS’s media source documentation.
  2. Gather approved episode files in one stable folder. Choose the playback order and keep a backup copy. OBS documentation lists common supported media formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. Avoid moving or renaming files after adding them to the playlist unless you update the source paths.
  3. Decide how the show should look and sound. Prepare any episode artwork, captions, camera view, or other overlays you intend to show. Listen through the actual Hindi dialogue and check that music or effects do not mask speech; the format list alone cannot establish intelligibility.

Build the episode rotation in OBS

  1. Create a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes panel to add a scene for the podcast rotation. Add any artwork, camera, captions, or other visual elements you need. OBS scenes and sources determine the layout and elements sent to the broadcast; see the OBS Sources Guide and OBS Studio Overview Guide.
  2. Add a VLC Video source. In the Sources panel, add a VLC Video source and load the episode files. Use the file list to put them in the intended order. A standard Media Source is configured around a local media item; use VLC Video for a multi-file playlist. The exact panel layout can vary by OBS version.
  3. Set the playback behavior. Turn off Shuffle Playlist if the episodes must play in a predictable sequence. Turn on Loop Playlist only if the list should begin again after its final item; otherwise, it will not provide a repeating rotation. These controls are distinct: shuffle changes order, while loop repeats the list.
  4. Choose what happens when the source is hidden. Check the VLC source’s visibility behavior so you know whether playback stops, pauses, or continues while the source is hidden by a scene change. This matters if you switch scenes during the stream and expect the episode audio to continue.
  5. Check the audio track and meters. Review the source’s Audio Track setting and watch the OBS audio meters during playback. Listen to a representative section in the actual scene and confirm that speech, music, and any other material are audible and balanced.
  6. Verify the sequence before going live. Check the loaded file order in OBS. Give files sortable episode numbers in their names if that helps, and test the transition between episodes, the end-of-list behavior, and any scene changes before scheduling a public broadcast.

Schedule the YouTube Live event and connect OBS

  1. Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming help says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. Check the channel’s current status before depending on a scheduled event. See YouTube live streaming tips.
  2. Schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Open Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream. Reuse a prior stream’s settings or create a new stream, then set the event details and schedule it. A scheduled event can be promoted, and viewers may be able to request a reminder. Scheduling does not create or order the playlist in OBS. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
  3. Get the stream connection details. In Live Control Room, use the YouTube stream URL and stream key in OBS, or select YouTube in OBS where available and follow its connection flow. Treat the stream key as a secret credential: YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s “password and address,” so do not show it in screen captures or public instructions. See Manage live stream settings.
  4. Start the encoder early and inspect the preview. YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours before a live stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. Start sending the OBS feed, then check the Live Control Room preview for the correct scene, video, and episode audio before the public start.
  5. Start and end the public event deliberately. When the preview is right and the scheduled broadcast should begin, click Go live in Live Control Room if its current controls require it. Starting OBS sends encoder data; it does not necessarily make the scheduled event public by itself. To end the event, follow YouTube’s Live Control Room controls and end the broadcast there before stopping the encoder, in line with YouTube’s operations guidance. Recheck current interface labels because OBS and YouTube Studio can change.

Check rights before broadcasting

Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every episode component: recorded voices, music, clips, and other material. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the content provider. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions. Owning or having permission to upload a recording does not automatically establish that every included track or clip is cleared for a live broadcast.

Choose the right playback approach

Approach What triggers playback Complexity and fit
Ordered VLC playlist in OBS The current file finishes and the next item plays. Low complexity; documented playlist order, loop, and shuffle controls suit a continuous back-to-back rotation.
Clock-triggered episode changes A specific time or automation event triggers a file or scene change. More complex; requires a current, verified automation method or separate playback system. Current plugin release, configuration, reliability, and compatibility are not established by the cited community discussion.

Troubleshoot common rotation problems

  • VLC Video is not available: Install VLC, matching the architecture of OBS; for 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. Restart OBS and check the source list again.
  • Episodes play in the wrong order: Turn off Shuffle Playlist and inspect the file order loaded into the VLC source. Sortable episode numbers can make the intended sequence easier to confirm.
  • The playlist stops after the final episode: Enable Loop Playlist if you want it to restart at the beginning. If it should stop, leave looping off.
  • Audio stops or changes when you switch scenes: Review the VLC source’s behavior while hidden. Set it to the intended stop, pause, or continue behavior, then test a scene change and listen for uninterrupted audio if that is required.
  • YouTube shows no preview: Confirm OBS is sending the feed and that the configured YouTube server URL and stream key are correct. Keep the key private, and check Live Control Room for the current connection status.
  • The scheduled event is not public when OBS starts: Starting the encoder and starting the public event are separate actions. Check the preview and use Live Control Room’s Go live control when required.
  • An episode does not start at its advertised clock time: A normal VLC playlist advances when a file ends; it does not establish clock-based episode starts. Use a verified automation system for timed changes and test the complete schedule privately.
  • Dialogue is hard to understand: Check the selected audio track and OBS meters, then listen to the scene output. Meters show signal, not whether Hindi dialogue is intelligible against music or effects.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded Hindi podcast episodes without leaving OBS and a computer running at home, StreamNeo is the cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and sends to YouTube only. An ordered playlist in OBS remains the DIY choice when you want to build the rotation and encoder setup locally.
