You can schedule a YouTube Live event for each tournament rerun, but YouTube Studio does not document a daily recurring-event switch. For a manual workflow, create a separate event for every date, then use an encoder or playout system to send the recorded match at the scheduled time. For automation, the Live Streaming API can create and bind events, but it does not play the video file for you.

What YouTube schedules—and what it does not

A YouTube broadcast is the event and watch page; a stream is the incoming audio and video feed. Scheduling an event sets its details and time, but does not start playback of a tournament recording. You still need an encoder or playout process to send that recording to YouTube.

YouTube Studio’s documented workflow creates or reuses an event; it does not document a native daily recurrence setting. A daily rerun therefore means scheduling separate broadcasts, or automating event creation with the Live Streaming API. In either case, the playback system must deliver the match footage at the right time.

Check channel eligibility and replay rights

Confirm live streaming is enabled

YouTube’s getting-started guidance, checked October 3, 2026, says a channel must be verified, have no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and meet the minimum age requirement of 16. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance before planning the first broadcast.

Get permission to rebroadcast the match

Before scheduling repeated public reruns, confirm that you have permission from the tournament organizer and relevant rights holders. A match replay can include game footage, tournament production and graphics, player feeds, commentary, and music, which may have separate rights. YouTube’s ability to accept a stream or create an archive does not establish permission to reuse that material. Rights or audience restrictions can also affect availability and monetization; do not assume a replay is eligible to earn revenue.

Schedule each rerun manually in YouTube Studio

  1. Create an event. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule Stream. Choose Create new for a new event or Reuse settings to carry over settings from an earlier one. For each date, review the title, description, privacy, category, thumbnail, and scheduled start time. The event is separate even when you reuse settings.
  2. Connect the encoder. If your encoder offers YouTube as a destination, select it and follow its connection flow. Otherwise, enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s stream settings. Select the tournament replay file or the playout output as the video source. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe the Studio and encoder workflow.
  3. Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: it tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube and update the encoder. Reusing event settings may also reuse the previous key, so check which key the encoder is using before each run. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
  4. Test the recording and feed. Play the source from beginning to end and check that both picture and audio are present. Verify that the encoder is sending a stable feed and that the correct event is selected. YouTube recommends setting up two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before it; use the Live Control Room preview to check the feed and confirm that the watch page is available. These are YouTube’s operational recommendations, checked October 3, 2026, in its streaming tips.
  5. Start the scheduled live event. At the planned time, start the encoder if it is not already sending the feed. Once the preview appears, select Go live in the Live Control Room. Monitor the live picture and audio while the match plays.
  6. End the broadcast. When the match is over, stop sending content and end the stream. YouTube says encoder streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. If you rely on that automatic archive behavior, keep each broadcast under 12 hours; see YouTube’s encoder instructions.

Choose a practical daily workflow

Approach Best for Trade-off
Schedule every event manually in Studio Low-volume reruns where an operator can create the event and check the start Simple to understand, but an operator must manage each date and ensure the feed starts.
Automate event creation with the Live Streaming API Developers or operators who need repeatable event setup Requires development, channel authorization, and credential maintenance. The API manages broadcast resources; it does not schedule video-file playback.
Reuse one encoder stream configuration Events with consistent ingestion settings Reduces repeated encoder configuration, but each event still needs the right date, binding, and incoming feed.

Google’s documentation describes a recurring-event pattern in which an operator creates a separate broadcast resource for each event and binds it to a reusable stream. Each broadcast remains its own event, while the stream resource can be reused. See Understanding broadcasts and streams and the broadcast and stream implementation guide.

Automate event creation with the Live Streaming API

This route is for developers or operators comfortable maintaining API authorization and a separate video playout system. The API can create and manage scheduled broadcasts, but it does not start a file player or send the recording to YouTube.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Authorize the channel. Use an authorized account with live-streaming permissions. The channel must also satisfy YouTube’s live-stream eligibility rules.
  2. Create a broadcast for each date. Provide that event’s title, scheduled start time, and privacy status, along with the required fields for the API request. Each rerun gets its own broadcast resource and watch-page event.
  3. Bind the broadcast to a stream. Associate the new broadcast with the stream resource used by your encoder or playout system. Google documents reusing a stream for successive broadcasts; confirm the event-to-stream binding for each scheduled run.
  4. Schedule the playout separately. Configure the encoder or playback process to send the intended match recording at the event time. Build in monitoring and a recovery plan rather than assuming that creating the broadcast starts or verifies playback.
  5. Handle API errors and limits. Broadcast creation requires authorization and can fail because of permissions, invalid event details, or API limits. Check the response and verify that the event and binding exist before the start time. Refer to the LiveBroadcasts: insert reference and YouTube Live Streaming API overview.

Decide in advance whether each day needs a new watch-page URL and fresh metadata. The documented model treats broadcasts as distinct events even when they use the same stream settings.

Troubleshoot common scheduling and playback failures

  • The event is scheduled, but nothing plays: Scheduling creates the YouTube event, not file playback. Start or schedule the encoder or playout system, select the correct recording, and check that the feed reaches the Live Control Room preview.
  • The encoder cannot connect: Check that it has the correct stream URL and current stream key, and that it is configured for YouTube or the appropriate custom destination. If the key may have been exposed or changed, reset it in Studio and update the encoder.
  • The preview has no sound or the wrong video: Check the selected source, file playback, audio routing, and event destination before going live. Confirm the match runs from beginning to end rather than relying on a short opening preview.
  • The event is unavailable for the channel: Confirm verification, age eligibility, live-stream activation, and whether the channel has a restriction within the preceding 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
  • The archive is missing: Check the broadcast length. YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to encoder streams shorter than 12 hours; it is not a reason to schedule a longer event and expect the same result.
  • The wrong event appears on the watch page: Check the date, privacy status, metadata, and broadcast-to-stream binding. Reused encoder settings do not replace the need to select and verify the correct daily broadcast.

Or let it run in the cloud

For a prerecorded match that should loop on YouTube without a computer staying on at home, StreamNeo runs the uploaded video from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and is YouTube-only.

  • Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
  • Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account).

The monthly option is $9.99 per month. For a daily tournament replay, make sure you have the necessary rebroadcast rights and choose the event and viewing schedule that fit your audience. Start your free StreamNeo day.
