To schedule a 24/7 Sikh shabad kirtan broadcast on YouTube, create a scheduled live event in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the event’s server URL and stream key, then start the encoder, check the preview, and click Go live. For continuous programming, plan separately for stream interruptions and archiving: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so keep a local recording if you need a complete replay.
Before scheduling: confirm access and plan the broadcast
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility before preparing the event; if the channel is not eligible, the scheduled workflow cannot solve that restriction. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Decide whether viewers should find the event publicly, by link only, or not at all. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, set the event’s visibility, title, description, thumbnail, and scheduled start time. Scheduling promotes the event in advance; it does not itself send video or guarantee that a stream starts unattended.

For a continuous devotional channel, decide whether to keep one event running or use shorter scheduled events. One long event has fewer planned transitions, but YouTube may not archive a stream that exceeds 12 hours. Shorter events can make complete YouTube replays more practical, but someone or an automation workflow must handle event changes, restarts, monitoring, and viewer notices. YouTube documents encoder-based scheduled events, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24-hour operation.

Also decide how viewers will find each event and whether notifications should be sent. Confirm that rights and any Content ID allowlisting cover both live use and any archived replay.
Schedule the event and connect an encoder
- Open Live Control Room in YouTube Studio. Create a new live stream and choose the scheduled-event workflow. Enter the event details and visibility, then save or schedule it.
- Choose an encoder. YouTube supports software and hardware encoder workflows. An existing computer and software encoder may be sufficient; expensive equipment is not a YouTube prerequisite. Choose based on the audio inputs you need, unattended stability, failover, maintenance, and cost.
- Copy the event’s server URL and stream key. Enter them in the encoder’s YouTube Live destination settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset the key in Studio and update the encoder with the replacement.
- Set video and audio output. Use an encoder configuration supported by YouTube and your hardware. YouTube’s current guidance lists RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video options, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; do not set the interval above four seconds. Check YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and the encoder’s own capabilities rather than copying an old preset.
- Start the encoder before the scheduled start. In the event’s settings, check whether auto-start or auto-stop is enabled; those options can change the operator steps. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, confirm the picture and sound, and click Go live when the event is ready. The scheduled time alone does not ensure that an encoder feed is present or that the event has gone live.
YouTube’s encoder workflow and event controls are described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.

Prepare audio, bandwidth, and monitoring
Test the actual sound path
Run a test using the same microphones, mixer, instruments, backing tracks, interface, encoder, and internet connection intended for the broadcast. Listen to the Live Control Room preview, not only to the source in the room. Check for silence, clipping, hum, channel imbalance, and excessive background noise. If a venue mixer or instruments need a dedicated connection to the encoding computer, an audio interface or preamp may help; it is optional if the existing audio chain already provides a clean input.
Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends that total outgoing bitrate fit within the connection’s upload capacity, with 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate. Test actual upload performance and prefer a reliable wired connection where practical. A connection that barely matches the encoder bitrate leaves little room for fluctuations. Watch stream health during the test and broadcast; see YouTube’s streaming tips.

Monitor the event and preserve a local copy
Set up an operator or a monitoring process to notice lost audio, encoder or network failure, and YouTube stream-health warnings. Keep a local recording if the program needs a complete archive. A UPS can help ride through a brief power loss, but it cannot protect against an internet or platform outage. YouTube recommends testing well ahead of an event, previewing before going live, monitoring audio and video, and checking the local archive file.
Plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That means a 24/7 event should not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube replay. YouTube recommends making a local archive backup. Read Archive live streams.

If full replays matter, make local recording part of the workflow and consider dividing the schedule into shorter events. Confirm that each event transition is covered by an operator or supported automation, that viewers can find the next event, and that the necessary rights apply to the live stream and replay. A shorter-event design addresses the archive concern but creates more transitions to manage.

Clear rights for every shabad kirtan recording
Do not assume a devotional or traditional composition makes a particular performance or recording free to broadcast. The composition, arrangement, live performance, sound recording, and backing track can involve different rights holders. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the provider to secure the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other participants in the territories where the content is used. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.

- Inventory the program. List every shabad, arrangement, recording, performance, and backing track you plan to use, identifying the relevant rights holders where possible.
- Obtain permission for the actual use. Confirm that permission covers live transmission, relevant territories, the intended term, and any archive or replay—not just possession of a recording or permission to perform it in person.
- Ask about Content ID allowlisting. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the stream image, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. YouTube says even a licensed stream may be interrupted unless the rights owner allowlists the channel through Content ID. See Copyright issues with live streams.
- Keep records and verify uncertain rights. Save licenses and written permissions, and contact the relevant rights holders or qualified counsel about questions specific to a work, recording, or territory.
The status of any particular shabad, performance, recording, or territorial license cannot be determined from the title alone; verify it with the relevant rights holders.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| The scheduled event has no preview | The encoder is not sending a feed, or its destination details are wrong. | Confirm the encoder is running and that the event’s server URL and current stream key are entered correctly. Check that the event and encoder are configured for the same stream. |
| The preview appears, but viewers cannot watch | The event has not been started in Live Control Room, or its start settings differ from what the operator expects. | Check the event’s auto-start setting and, if required, click Go live after verifying the preview. |
| Audio is missing or distorted | The wrong input is selected, a cable or mixer output is faulty, levels are too high, or the encoder’s audio settings do not match the source. | Test the complete audio chain and listen to the Live Control Room preview. Correct the input routing or levels before continuing. |
| Stream health is unstable | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or the connection is unreliable. | Check total outgoing bitrate against measured upload capacity, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and use a reliable wired connection where possible. |
| The stream is interrupted or terminated after music plays | A Content ID match or other rights issue may be affecting the live feed. | Review YouTube’s notice, verify permissions for the specific material and use, and contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting if licensed content is involved. |
| The YouTube replay is missing or incomplete | The event exceeded 12 hours, or the local recording workflow was not running or saved correctly. | Do not rely on YouTube to capture an over-12-hour stream. Check the local recording and consider shorter events if complete YouTube archives are important. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded Sikh shabad kirtan program to repeat without keeping a computer or home connection on, StreamNeo runs an uploaded video or playlist as a YouTube live stream from the cloud. The setup is: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.
- Nothing has to stay powered on at home; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud.
- Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality-based tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. It does not replace music permissions or Content ID allowlisting, and YouTube’s archive caveat still matters if you need a complete replay. Start your free StreamNeo day.
