YouTube Studio can schedule the live event, but it does not schedule a bhajan-to-aarti playlist change within that broadcast. To make the change, schedule the event in YouTube Studio and set the handoff in the separate playback or automation system feeding your encoder. Configure it for the temple’s actual aarti time in India Standard Time (IST), rehearse the transition, and check the result in YouTube Live Control Room.
What YouTube Studio schedules—and what it does not
A scheduled YouTube Live event gives your audience an upcoming event and watch-page URL. The continuous video and audio still have to come from an encoder, and the switch between playlists has to be managed by the playback or automation layer supplying that encoder. YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow does not describe a control for automatically switching playlists during a live event. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the scheduled event and encoder workflow.
That means there are two schedules to coordinate: the event in YouTube Studio and the playlist handoff in your playout system. Do not confuse this with scheduling an uploaded video to become public; YouTube documents that as a separate publishing feature. Scheduled video publishing is not a live-stream playlist switch.

Prepare the channel, recordings, and handoff plan
Check livestream eligibility
YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Confirm eligibility before building the schedule. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also recommend preparing the encoder well ahead of the event.

Choose the aarti time for your location
There is no single morning-aarti time that applies across India. Use the temple’s actual schedule, then configure that time in the playback or automation system. Set the correct time zone—IST—and check how the system handles time zones and recurring schedules, especially if its server or account is set to another region. Rehearse the handoff at the intended local time before relying on it for a continuous channel.
Confirm you have rights to the recordings
Use bhajan and aarti recordings you own or have permission to broadcast on YouTube. A devotional song may be traditional while a particular recording or arrangement is protected. Verify rights for each recording, including any instrumental track, performance, or sound recording used in the playlist; do not assume that religious or public-domain subject matter makes a modern recording free to rebroadcast.

Plan for archives separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish archive behavior for a broadcast continuing beyond 12 hours, so do not assume a 24/7 run will be retained as one complete archive. Arrange separate recording or archive capability if you need a copy, and verify the platform’s behavior for your setup.

- Open YouTube Studio and schedule the event. In Live Control Room, go to Manage and select Schedule stream. Set the title, description, visibility, and event start time, then save. Share the resulting watch-page URL with viewers.
- Get the event’s stream details. In Live Control Room, retrieve the stream URL and stream key for the encoder. Treat the key like a password: keep it private and do not publish it in the video description or a public playlist.
- Configure the encoder and playback system. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Whichever you use, make sure the playback or automation layer can feed it continuously and perform the bhajan-to-aarti switch. YouTube documents encoder categories, but does not rank them for this particular workflow.
- Run an early preview. YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. Check the preview in Live Control Room and confirm audio, video, and the expected incoming feed before proceeding. These are preparation recommendations, not a guarantee against outages.
- Go live for the scheduled event. Once the encoder preview is available, use Go live in Live Control Room when following the scheduled-event workflow. Confirm the event is live and the watch page is showing the intended feed.
- Test the playlist change. In the playout system, verify that the regular bhajan rotation changes to the aarti playlist at the intended IST time, then confirm the change in the YouTube feed. Check that the outgoing item finishes or transitions as intended and that the incoming playlist starts with audible, usable sound.
Choose an encoder and playout arrangement
YouTube describes both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. The important question for this use case is not which category is universally better, but whether your chosen setup can keep the feed running and schedule the playlist handoff independently of YouTube Studio.

YouTube confirms these encoder categories but does not identify a playlist automation service or endorse one for India-time aarti switching. Check a prospective playout system’s recurring schedule, time-zone handling, monitoring, and recovery behavior before depending on it.
Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- The event is scheduled, but there is no picture or sound: Scheduling creates the event, not the encoder feed. Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream URL and key are in use, and the preview appears in Live Control Room.
- The event is live, but the playlist does not change: The handoff is controlled by the playout or automation system. Check the scheduled playlist, its time zone, recurring schedule, and whether the change was saved and enabled.
- The switch happens at the wrong time: Confirm the schedule uses IST rather than the server’s or account’s local time. Check daylight-saving or time-zone conversion behavior where relevant, then rehearse the corrected schedule.
- The preview is missing shortly before the event: Start the encoder early enough to diagnose the connection, feed, or key. YouTube recommends starting at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event and checking the preview.
- The 24/7 broadcast is not available as one complete archive: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, not a continuous run longer than that. Use a separate recording or archive plan if full retention matters.
- A recording is claimed or blocked: Review permissions for the specific recording and arrangement. Replace or remove material you are not authorized to broadcast; being a bhajan does not by itself establish rights to a particular recording.
