To schedule a 24/7 kids’ cartoon stream on YouTube, create a scheduled live event in YouTube Studio, set its audience accurately, then connect an encoder or cloud playout service to send the video. Scheduling creates the event and its watch page; it does not play the cartoon or keep a feed running. Before going live, confirm you have written permission for continuous YouTube livestreaming of the cartoons. If you need dependable replays, plan shorter broadcast sessions: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What you need to schedule a continuous cartoon stream
A 24/7 broadcast has two separate parts: the scheduled YouTube event and the system that supplies video continuously. YouTube Studio manages the event. An encoder—software, standalone hardware, or a cloud service—connects to YouTube and sends the video feed. YouTube describes an encoder as a tool that converts video into a digital format for streaming. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover the connection workflow.
- A channel eligible to go live: YouTube says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Current guidance also says streamers must be at least 16; under-16 participation is subject to adult-presence conditions. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for current requirements.
- A continuous video source: Choose an encoder workflow capable of playing the cartoon feed and staying connected. A scheduled event by itself is not a playout system.
- Livestream rights: Obtain written permission covering YouTube livestreaming and the intended use. A purchase or online copy of a cartoon does not itself grant rebroadcast rights.
- An archive plan: YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but says a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. Retain local recordings and use shorter sessions if complete replays matter. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio: Select Create → Go live → Manage, then schedule a stream. Enter its title, privacy setting, scheduled start time, and other event details. YouTube’s live-streaming overview explains the workflow. For developers or automated broadcast management, the LiveBroadcasts API represents scheduled broadcasts with fields such as title, scheduled start time, and privacy; it also exposes recording, DVR, and automatic start/stop controls.
- Set the audience designation: In Live Control Room, identify whether the stream is made for kids. Cartoon subject matter alone does not decide the setting. If the stream is directed at children, select Yes, it’s made for kids. YouTube’s audience-setting guidance describes the controls; set the audience there rather than in Classic live streaming tools.
- Connect the encoder: In Live Control Room, get the YouTube stream URL and stream key, then enter them in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed. YouTube’s encoder setup steps explain how to connect.
- Start and verify the feed: Start the encoder, wait for the video preview in Live Control Room, check that the event and picture are correct, then select Go live. Test access to the watch page, audio and video monitoring, and the recovery process before relying on a continuous run. YouTube’s encoder tips recommend checking archive growth, event accessibility, audio/video, and failover.
Choose how to keep the cartoon feed running
YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; its guidance does not establish that one category is universally better. Choose based on operating time, monitoring, recovery from network or encoder failure, whether you need scheduled segments, required output quality, and total cost.
Software encoder on a computer
A software encoder can send the feed from a computer. This can suit a setup where you can keep the machine, encoder, and internet connection running and monitored. Account for outages, restarts, and local recording storage; a scheduled YouTube event will not restart a failed encoder for you.

Plan audience settings and features for children
For a stream designated made for kids, YouTube disables live chat, chat replay, and Super Chat. It also disables comments on upcoming streams and archives, and reminder notifications for upcoming streams. Personalized ads are disabled, although contextual ads may appear. Do not advertise chat, reminders, or personalized advertising as available features of this stream. These restrictions are described in YouTube’s made-for-kids guidance.

Protect the stream’s rights and archive
Clear continuous livestreaming rights
Ask the rights holder or authorized distributor for written permission that specifically covers YouTube livestreaming, the territories where viewers can watch, continuous or repeat playout, and whether recordings may be retained or published as archives. Rights for one use, such as personal viewing or a standard upload, should not be assumed to cover a 24/7 live rebroadcast. These are practical licensing questions; terms vary by program and territory.
YouTube identifies copyright strikes during an active stream and matches to another copyrighted live broadcast as possible triggers for live-streaming restrictions. Review YouTube’s live-streaming restriction guidance and Content ID guidance. Neither scheduling an event nor keeping a local copy grants content rights.

Choose session length around replay needs
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its help guidance warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” This is an archive threshold, not a maximum allowed broadcast duration. If retaining a full replay matters, break the operation into sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording as a backup. YouTube also documents DVR controls in its live-stream DVR guidance, but DVR does not remove the archive limitation.

- Check the live preview and watch page: Confirm the scheduled event is accessible and the video and audio are present before leaving the feed unattended.
- Monitor failure and recovery: Test what happens if the network or encoder disconnects. A YouTube event can remain scheduled while its encoder is no longer sending video.
- Track local recording storage: A 24-hour recording can consume substantial disk space; verify free space and that recordings are actually being written.
- Use segments if the archive is important: Plan an orderly handoff between shorter events and ensure the playout workflow can resume the correct material.
- Keep the stream key private: Anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the channel’s stream endpoint. Reset it if compromised.
Troubleshooting common setup problems
