Yes. Build a Make scenario that starts on a schedule or another trigger, captures a webpage with a screenshot-service module, then maps its image or file output into Dropbox’s Upload a File module. You do not need to create a Dropbox sharing link unless you want to share the uploaded screenshot.

What you need

  • A Make account and a scenario in which to connect the modules.
  • A Dropbox account. Make’s Dropbox setup uses a connected Dropbox account and includes an Upload a File action. Make’s Dropbox documentation explains adding the module and authorizing the connection.
  • A screenshot provider whose Make module can capture the page you need. Depending on the provider, you may also need an account or API credentials for that service.
  • The webpage URL to capture, plus a destination folder and filename plan.

Build the Make scenario

Make scenarios are workflows made of modules, and mapping passes data from one module to another. For this task, the flow is: trigger, screenshot, Dropbox upload. The trigger can be a schedule or another event that suits your workflow.

  1. Add a trigger. Create a scenario and choose the event or schedule that should start it. If you want recurring captures, set the schedule to the interval you need.
  2. Add a screenshot module. Choose an available Make integration and its website-screenshot action. Enter the target page URL and configure capture settings such as full-page scrolling or a selected element when the provider offers them.
  3. Add Dropbox’s Upload a File module. Connect your Dropbox account when prompted, then choose the destination folder.
  4. Map the screenshot output. In the Dropbox module’s file-data field, select the screenshot module’s returned file or image data. Map a filename into the filename field if the module exposes one; otherwise use the field’s required format and extension.
  5. Test the route. Run the scenario once, then check that the screenshot is readable and that Dropbox received it in the intended folder with the intended filename. Turn on the scenario only after the test succeeds.

Make’s module fields can vary by integration. The key is to map actual binary/file output into Dropbox’s file-data input, rather than mapping only a URL or descriptive text. If a provider returns a URL instead of file data, check whether its module exposes a download or file-conversion step before Dropbox upload.

Choose a screenshot action that fits the page

Make’s documented integrations include several kinds of website capture actions. The available action names and fields can change, so confirm them in the Make module picker and the provider’s documentation before building around a specific option.

ScreenshotOne Website and scrolling screenshot actions Check the action’s capture options and returned file format before mapping.

These documented actions establish that Make has multiple screenshot-provider integrations, but they do not establish comparative capture quality, pricing, or plan limits. Pick by capture scope (whole page or element), scrolling and dimension controls, the output that can be mapped to Dropbox, and the provider authentication the module requires.

Set the Dropbox destination and filename

In Upload a File, select the Dropbox folder where screenshots should be stored and map the screenshot result into the module’s file input. Use a predictable filename if the module supports it—for example, a page identifier plus a date or run timestamp—to make recurring captures easier to find. Check the provider’s output format before choosing an extension such as .png, .jpg, or .webp.

If every run uses the same fixed filename, a later upload may overwrite or conflict with an earlier file depending on the module’s behavior and Dropbox settings. Use unique names for an archive, or deliberately choose replacement behavior if you only want the latest capture. Verify this in a test run rather than assuming how the connector handles duplicate names.

Storage is not the same as a shareable image link

Uploading the screenshot stores it in Dropbox; a public or shareable link is a separate operation and is not needed for the upload itself. If you add Make’s Dropbox Create a shared link action, its documented result is a Dropbox page link, not necessarily a direct image URL. Make documents changing the ending from ?dl=0 to ?dl=1 for downloading, and adding &raw=1 to force rendering. Its Dropbox documentation also describes a URL transformation for direct/raw image links. Use those adjustments only when the consuming app needs download or inline rendering behavior, and validate the resulting link in that app.

Or skip the browser setup

If you would rather call a screenshot API directly and then route the resulting file into your automation, ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request screenshot endpoint. Here is the cURL request; replace the example target URL with the page you want to capture:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response handling. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. It also offers an MCP server with screenshot, page-info, and PDF-capture tools for AI agents, and includes 1,000 screenshots a month free without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Troubleshooting

The Dropbox module has no usable file data

Check the screenshot module’s output after a test run. If it returned a URL or text rather than file/binary data, Dropbox cannot upload that value as the file itself. Use a provider action or intermediate step that retrieves the image as file data, then map that output.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The upload succeeds but the screenshot is blank or incomplete

Confirm the URL is correct and publicly reachable by the screenshot service, then inspect that provider’s capture settings. A page that fills content after load may need a wait option; a long page may require a scrolling or full-page action. If the page requires authentication, check whether the integration supports the necessary credentials or cookies.

The screenshot appears in the wrong folder or under an unexpected name

Reopen the Dropbox module and inspect the mapped folder and filename fields. Run the scenario once with a known URL and verify the exact Dropbox location and resulting filename before enabling a recurring schedule.

The scenario cannot connect to Dropbox

Confirm that you have a Dropbox account and that the Make connection is authorized. Reconnect the Dropbox account in Make if authentication was revoked or the connection is no longer valid, then run the upload test again.

A shared link opens a Dropbox page instead of displaying the image

That is the documented shared-link behavior. If the consuming service needs a download or rendered image, use the Dropbox URL adjustment appropriate to that purpose and test it there; do not add a sharing-link step if all you need is storage.

Reliability and cost considerations

A scheduled scenario can capture the same page repeatedly, but the completed run depends on the trigger, screenshot provider, and Dropbox connection all succeeding. Test the full route, including the upload, and monitor failed scenario runs in Make. The cited integration documentation does not establish comparative provider prices, capture-quality rankings, or plan allowances; check the current provider and Make plan details directly before estimating recurring costs. Frequently Asked Questions

Can Make take a screenshot of a URL and upload it to Dropbox automatically?

Yes. Connect a screenshot action and Dropbox’s Upload a File module in one scenario, then map the screenshot module’s file output into the upload module.

Do I need to create a Dropbox shared link to save a screenshot?

No. A shared link is only needed if you want to share or render the stored file elsewhere.
