Can VisualScraper capture a GST portal page as a PDF?

A browser-made PDF is a visual copy of the page as rendered for printing. It is not a portal-generated data file, a certified record, or proof that a return was filed. Printing can apply print styles and settings, so the PDF may differ from what appeared on screen; inspect the saved file rather than assuming it contains everything.
Save a GST portal page as a PDF in a browser
- Open the specific GST portal page and wait until the content you need has loaded. If the page requires sign-in, use the official portal and keep your credentials and OTP private.
- Check the form for a native download or export option. Use that if you need structured data or an official generated file.
- If you need a visual record, open the browser’s Print command and choose its PDF save destination. The exact labels and available options vary by browser and operating system; these are not verified VisualScraper controls.
- Save the file locally, then open it and check the title or context, text legibility, tables, page breaks, and lower-page content.
- If the output is incomplete, return to the page and check that it has finished loading. Try adjusting print settings or saving again, then verify the new file.

A CBIC-hosted GSTN self-service manual dated 29 January 2018 listed PNG, JPG, JPEG, and PDF attachments, with a maximum of ten files and a combined 5 MB limit. Those are historical instructions, not confirmed current limits. See the 2018 manual and verify the present-day form.
What a saved PDF does not do
A PDF capture does not submit a GST form, file a return, verify an account, or replace a portal download. The official GSTR-1 workflow guide includes distinct login and OTP verification steps for filing; saving a page is separate from those actions.

GST pages can contain taxpayer or account information. Keep captures private unless you have a clear reason and appropriate authorization to share them. Do not include credentials, OTPs, or unrelated personal data in a capture or support attachment.
Troubleshooting an incomplete or unreadable PDF
- Some content is missing: Confirm the content loaded before printing. Review every page of the saved PDF for tables and lower-page material; the browser’s print rendering may differ from the screen.
- The page or table is hard to read: Reopen the print dialog and review the available layout and scaling options. Labels differ among browsers, and no particular setting is verified for VisualScraper.
- The PDF does not look like the browser page: Print styling can change how content is rendered. Treat the PDF as a visual record of the print output, not a guaranteed pixel-for-pixel screen capture.
- You need data rather than a picture of the page: Look for the form’s native download or export. For GSTR-1 e-invoice details, the portal guide documents Excel download and a download-history flow for larger sets.
- A support form rejects the attachment: Check the live form’s allowed file types and size limits. Do not assume the 2018 manual’s limits still apply.
