To keep a song you find on Snapchat, save it as a Snapchat sound if you want to reuse it in a Snap, or save it to Spotify if you want to build a music collection. Snapchat’s Sounds picker includes a bookmark option, while Snap’s Now Playing feature lets linked Spotify users save eligible tracks from Snap Map, Spotlight, and Sound Pages to Liked Songs.
Choose where you want to save the song

The two options serve different purposes: bookmarking an audio item in Snapchat does not guarantee it will correspond to a full track in Spotify.
Save a sound in Snapchat for later use

Open Snapchat’s camera and tap the Sounds tool.

Browse or search for the sound. Snapchat documents tabs such as For You, Saved, Recents, Trending, and My Sounds; the labels and layout can vary by app version or localization.

Preview a result, then tap its bookmark icon to save it. You can find bookmarked items later in the Saved area of the Sounds picker.

Save audio from a Spotlight post
Tap the sound on a Spotlight post to open its Sound Topic page. If a Save option appears, use it to keep the sound for later. Snapchat also says a sound from Spotlight can be used to create a Snap; availability and controls may depend on the sound and app version. See Snapchat’s sound instructions.
Save a discovered track to Spotify
Snap announced Now Playing on Snap Map on 27 July 2026. If the feature is available to you and your Spotify account is linked, you can save eligible tracks discovered on Snap Map, Spotlight, or Sound Pages to Spotify’s Liked Songs. Snap says the feature is available wherever Spotify and Snapchat are available, with Canada coming soon at the time of the announcement; rollout details can change.

Link your Spotify account to Snapchat if you have not already done so, and review who can see your listening activity.

When a track appears through Now Playing on Snap Map, Spotlight, or a Sound Page, tap it to open its music options.

Choose the Spotify option to open the track or save it to Liked Songs.

Snap’s announcement describes the feature and its surfaces in Now Playing on Snap Map. The announcement confirms saving to Liked Songs, not automatic creation of a Snapchat-specific playlist.
Organize songs so you can find them again
Make a dedicated discovery playlist
In Spotify, create a playlist such as “Discovered on Snapchat” and add tracks you want to revisit. Liked Songs is a quick collection; a dedicated playlist makes it easier to separate Snapchat discoveries from the rest of your library.
Sort by how you expect to search
If your list grows, make additional playlists by mood, genre, or date. Use names you will recognize later, such as “Snap discoveries — summer” or “Snap discoveries — upbeat.” This is a manual organization workflow; Snap’s announcement does not say that Snapchat automatically sorts saved tracks into playlists.

Use Snapchat Saved Sounds for creation, Spotify for listening
Keep a sound bookmarked in Snapchat when your goal is to reuse it in a Snap. Keep a Spotify track in Liked Songs or a playlist when your goal is to listen later. This split avoids treating Snapchat’s reusable audio items as though they were always catalogued songs.
Identify a song when Snapchat does not name it
If a sound page does not provide a usable track identity, Shazam is a separate option for identifying music playing nearby or in another app. Apple says identified songs are saved in the Shazam app library, which can connect with music services. Apple also says Shazam does not record or store detected audio. See Use Shazam to identify songs.

Do not rely on an assumed Shazam button inside Snapchat: the current sources cited here do not establish that Snapchat’s former Scan integration is available. Spotify’s existing Snapchat integration can also share currently playing music to Snap Map, and Snapchat lists Linkfire as a way to connect Featured Sounds with streaming services; these are related sharing or discovery paths, not substitutes for the save workflows above.
